No, you decide by feelings rather than by truth.

That's not true actually. Even if I was straight I would have this exact same view.
Proves nothing. Lots of straight people are for the legalization of gay marriage.

Impossible. Social issues are never strictly logical, but are open to a certain amount of subjective interpretation.

Actually, you're quite selective in who people can marry, or what they can marry. Remember the Man-Boy Love Association argument? It's consensual, but you're against it. (And I'm definitely with you, on that.)

It's not consensual if it involves kids. Kids cannot consent technically.

Now look who's making assumptions about other people! :P

well... it's the law at any rate........

and again.... if that's not the MORAL issue that you're against in this situation..... then what is it? simply that they're not married? and just how old is old enough for you? just curious

We haven't been defeated. These rights will be given sooner or later. Me, Sedaka and anyone else who's contributed to this thread in disagreement with you, have defeated you, actually.

Gee, take your own advise:

Sopho wrote:

You assume that because I'm a Christian I know nothing. That immediately weakens your credibility. For, Dr. John Warwick Montgomery is a conservative Christian who holds all my views, and has 11 earned degrees, including in law and human rights. He also pratices as a barrister in the U.K.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Warwick_Montgomery

But you would argue that, because he's a Christian, he must know little or nothing. How sad for you...

No I wasn't assuming you know nothing. When did I say that? You're making assumptions about me again. I know some Christians are intelligent people. I've even stated in this thread (I think it was this one anyway) that I find it hard to understand how intelligent people can believe this sh**. So you're wrong AGAIN.

You believe Christians are deluded. That's what you wrote.

apparently smart people can be delusional too

(yes on either side.... so no lamo puns plz)

1) quit being silly.... not the "Straight" voting majority............

That's not "silly", that's you not taking my claim at its factual face value.

Really? What about kids with 180 IQs who are also adults emotionally? And what about adults with 60 IQs who are also emotionally children? Do you honestly think that such adults could consent to sex more knowingly than such children? No, because that's not the issue. People are against child sex because it's sick.

Obviously it doesn't apply to everyone - some people under 16 are possible emotionally old enough to get married and plenty over 16 aren't. But the government does not have the time or resources to check every single person to see if they are mature enough. So they have to go by the age which is best for most people. It's safer that way. All they have to do is wait a couple years and they can get married. What about gay couples? They can never marry their partner. There are so many rights couples are automatically given when they marry.

And also because it affects other people - it would be dangerous to allow men into women's toilets. Whereas allowing me to marry a woman doesn't harm any straight people.

Well, when you contemplate breaching the TOS to teach me a lesson, as you did yesterday, and you mention wanting to "slap" me and "pull my teeth" for my opinions, it's clear that the only reason you (and I'm sure others) are not "seriously" planning revenge is that you're circumstantially incapable of carrying it out.

Ill will is bitter to hold onto. Let it go.

I have made my decision on my viewpoints on gay marriage based on what is morally right.

It is immoral to lie about a group of people - say that they are only out to get special rights, and that gay marriage will somehow cause societal collapse, and that gays are more likely to be pedophiles, and that homosexuality is a choice- That is all falsehood, that is all against the 9th Commandment.

Gays are your neighbors too, it's not right to lie about them.

They deserve equal rights - to marry the one they love. If that happens to be someone of the same gender, it takes hate to drive people to oppose that.

Search your soul, do you hate gays? Do you hate homosexuality? It's either yes or no for both. Hating homosexuality is like hating the skin color of a black person. It's a part of ones being, as is bisexuality and heterosexuality. We are all born with our sexual orientation. It cannot be changed, people who claim to do so are either lying - or they are bisexuals that suppress their homosexual feelings.

Yeah, I'm being a bit harsh here. That's how I am on this issue.

When I am referring to homosexuality, I am referring to the sexual orientation. The act is something different, and if you disapprove of just that then that's okay. However, that is still their right to act on their feelings - that is why the Texas anti-sodomy law was so easily struck down because it was unconstitutional.

Basically, I strongly believe that it is immoral to ban gay marriage. Gay marriage bans are only rooted in hatred, and hatred is immoral.

lol That applies to everyone does it?
That's like saying, the law that only black people cannot use this fountain applies to everyone...
Only men can marry women. I can't. Therefore the right to marry a woman does NOT apply to everyone. You don't seem to be able to grasp that though.

The closest is Ragtime's religious arguments, but in countries where religion does not dictate the law (The United States for example), that argument isn't even constitutional. (I.E. Banning gay marriage because it goes against the Bible violates freedom of religion and the establishment clause - there are even Christian churches that support gay marriage)

Otherwise every argument made against gay people has been easily debunked. 50 pages of all that.

Wow. An unconvincably biased person is still unconvinced that gay marriage is wrong. Ya, that's pretty suprising, Joe.

well when the opposing said cannot directly say WHY.... why should they suddenly switch?

we have provided lots of WHY NOTS (why homo. is not wrong)

but so far for why it's wrong... whe have:

cause god says so

Again, you can stop after reaching that reason, because for any true Christian, what God says goes, period. This thread solicited opinions on homosexuality. I gave mine, and explained why I am 100% against it. Now, if you don't respect God's authority, that's another issue altogether. The fact remains that I have given my answer regarding the issue. If you wish to disrespect God and my religion, that also makes no difference in the subject of this thread. Start another Christ-bashing thread if that's what you want to do.

im not a christian basher........ just a basher of stupid blind people who accept hate

But that's how you view Christians -- you've written such many times.

That's the kind of description I used when I'm pissed off, yes. But I don't seriously believe you're insane. It's just an opinion. To me it seems deluded. I don't sit here making accusations about you as an individual, claiming to know what you think or how you feel when I obviously don't.

Uh, actually, that's exactly what you do.

not on the same points though........

i think the issue at hand affects her life moreso than yours....

and it's not like she's pretended to go be a christian in order to obtain some "enlightenment" and then parades the results of her experiment to say that there is no god and that that proves why gays should have rights. (her beliefs in god do happen to coincide with her side of the issue... but so do yours and that's not what we're talkin about here.... so dont even try to pull that card... you're both equal there)

that's what you effectively did with your homo experimentation.... playing it down and nullifying it

You definately havent, all you have stated is that you feel your are entitled fundementally.

Did you actually read through the whole thread?
I don't just 'feel' I am entitled. If, by that, you meant I recognise that it is sexist discrimination, then yes. But I also stated other reasons. All you have come up with is that somehow legalising gay marriage will mean a shedload more people will suddenly turn gay and you won't get your pension because there won't be enough kids.
And tbh, we only need one reason: rights.

no he hasnt or esel he wouldnt be bringing up the same points...

As others here have already observed, this thread has been repetitive from start to finish.

only cause we're having to run circles around you just to get you to take a baby step forward

but if it's so repetitive then he should be asking NEW questions...................

funny how poeple on the same side just dont get that

edit: and my response was mainly cause he was rude to me on another site for accidentally doing something similar... though i apologized and stopped

And forcing himself to try and be attracted to men temporarily isn't being gay. I've always liked women and never liked men, even when I tried. That's different to trying to be attracted to people on a lower level.
