I think gays should have the same rights that heterosexuals have. I love my gay relatives just as much as any family member. In fact, I voted against Prop H8 in California, and would do whatever I could to make sure that gays get the right to marry. Homophobic churches don't have to recognize those marriages, but they shouldn't take away those rights. Ideally, I would love it if all marriages were done civilly first, then a religious ritual afterward if the couple wanted to, just like they do in some countries.

Every mormon I knew was sounding the rally cry last fall, for a church that has only recently seen any kind of public acceptance, you'd think they'd know better than to turn right around and pick on a group facing similar challenges. What makes it worse is that any mormon I'd confront on the issue had a well versed excuse "I have gay friends... it's not personal... moral fabric of our society..." More like a Jihad against homosexuals.

I get bitter easily, I was raised mormon and I'm still getting all of their "training" out of my system.

Why oh Why is this still an issue, I really do not understand bigotry against homosexual people. This should long ago have been assigned to the "Non Issue" bin. For those of you that are bigoted in this way why the f**k does it matter what peoples consensual sexual orientation is.

That's what a lot of people said before they discovered one of their kids was gay.

(thank you, Tim Tex)

i think what it boils down to: a lot of people fear us because we poke a lot of holes in the whole gender "dichotomy." lose those (rigid) categories---the hierarchy based on it goes too.

but enough of this. now. where that pretty tranny go?

I really don't understand why people even care about this at all.

Like for example there was this gay kid at my school, Sam. He was noticeably flamboyant, even downright annoying and in-your-face about it. I didn't see this kid as being annoying because he was gay, I saw this kid as being annoying because he was annoying.

I really truly believe that being gay, straight, lesbian, bi, transgender, asexual etc etc...it's all redundant. It's really one of the stupidest and most meaningless debates in human history, next to are whites better than <insert ethnicity here>?

it is largely meaningless. at least according to the title. it's a little like asking, "what do you think of food." there's a little bit of variety and scope there. how do you lump us all into one category of "like" or "dislike?"

on the other hand, the question of rights seems relevant.

even so. it seems out of hand to me that the answer would be yes. a no can only be justified on the basis of fear (and frankly--upon very sloppy logic.)

it would be fun to post this on a queer forum. see what you get. the queens would have this for breakfast; the butches and femmes for lunch and dinner. the switches would... (never mind.)

I think they should have the same exact rights as straight people. Saying they shouldn't be allowed to marry is just like saying interracial couples shouldn't be allowed to marry. Besides, all homophobes are either religionists, dumb rednecks, or ghetto thugs.

We don't have to worry about homosexual couples having children naturally. What is your opinion on homosexual couples adopting children. I have no objection as long as the people involved have good character.
