Resume (after 80 replies): yes, it is taboo on wrongplanet.

It is taboo in the same sense that Holocaust denial, 9/11 conspiracies, homeopathy, vaccine-autism theories, and other assorted quackery is taboo: it is dismissively rejected by the overwhelming majority of marginally intelligent people because it is obvious nonsense.

People are led to believe that, Orwell. But if you look into it, clearly that's not the case. In this thread I've provided evidence with regard to Ashkenazi Jews that specific groups of people can have an average IQ significantly removed from 100. As these different groups of people are usually represented in different proportions in different nations, it seems reasonable to propose that different nations may exhibit different average IQs. So, yes, it may be taboo to discuss these things, but that's not because it's unreasonable in the way 9/11 conspiracy is.

It is widely used and the best measure we have. Of course it's fashionable to say what you've just stated, especially amongst leftist and liberals who don't like the idea that one person can be better at something than another, but it's not an accurate statement. Moreover, IQ tests are split into sections that measure different areas of ability. Having that data, too, gives a fairly good indication of a persons strengths and weaknesses.

At this point I'd like to run into the middle of a field and scream. Having gone through all that, your next turn in the debate is....go back to the beginning?

god job i've never said that then isn't it? I'm yet to meet a single person who is one pace to the left of centre or beyond ever to claim there aren't differences in ability between individuals. This is also fairly inconsistent with your own position surely? you're talking about IQ differences between nations and/or races - they tend to come in groups of two or more yes? - not differences between one person and another. At the individual level IQ testing is a very limited and flawed measure of intellectual ability - as an average of abitrarily defined groups it's not something I'd like to think a government was basing policy on. At all.

Most of the other posters were quite eloquent as to the worth of your output and I became disturbed when you started to substitute guts for brains as qualification for submissions.

is there something constructive you actually have to offer? Unless there's something else to actually be said on the topic then perhaps we can leave it rather than continuing with these petty little snipes you're taking at others?

*sigh* We're all getting just a wee bit tired of this, Carlofirst. Please explain how his views are "lies and denials".
