Why?

You've seen the responses here when evolution is questioned.
It's sort of like being in a group of devout Catholics and flipping the bird at the Pope.

Because evolution is happening all around you every day, it's not just some cockeyed idea, it's something that makes diseases attack ferociously and it's too damned dangerous to dismiss with folk tale foolishness.

Incidentally, whilst "flipping the bird", unusual expression, sounds like fun..
I've long since made a vow to kick the pope in the balls sometime before the end of my life.
It's on my "things to do before I die" list.

Take THAT, you crazy nazi crossdressing liar!!

Ah, if only kicking the Pope in the balls would have some meritorious effect. Solving religious problems is another ball game.

True, not much effect, but the (most likely - he is a catholic priest) paedophile pissed me off with his "new seven deadly sins" - most of which have to do with me and my work! No geezer in a skirt insults me an' gets away with it!
So, no meritous effect - save entertainment value and personal satisfaction!

For all your book-smarts, you are still emotionally immature.

Ah, slowmutant, how little you know of myself, the face I present to the world and Australian culture! Perhaps if you could understand that; you'd see the fallacies behind that statement!

Get help, Ishy. If you really want to hurt the source of his power, simply stop taking the pope seriously. (Most American Catholics have.)

Ha! Do you honestly think I'm trying?! Or care, for that matter.
Pal; you are so utterly insignificant to me, I am surprised at your over estimation of your impressions. Get out of the cul de sac, mate. Go on - I dare ya to trek from Adelaide to Darwin on foot. Maybe then you might be more than a speck on the radar.
You need a little real world experience; methinks.
Stop pretending anybody cares about your opinion of them! Such posts are unnecessary and flagrantly incindiery.
Have fun with that.

For a lot of the diseases a strain is formed which is resilient to the medication due to a defect, but after a few generations without the medication the strain is no longer prevalent and the medication may be reused. It's kind of a cyclic process.

Exactly. Evolution at work in both directions. That's why restrained use of antibiotics is necessary. But it's obvious the original antibiotics are no longer used because the resistance to them is still in force. Not always, but most frequently, the life if an antibiotic is relatively short and new ones have to be discovered all the time. Medical researchers have repeatedly warned that we are running out of the capacity to devise new ones.

Another option is to use a cocktail of three or more different medications which act on various components of the molecular nanotechnology. That way it would require three point mutations or greater on specific parts of the genome, which would be statistically absurd in most cases.

There is nothing statistically absurd with the process of evolution. Since variation in viruses and other bacterial diseases takes place very quickly over millions or billions of reproductive cycles all antibiotics act as filters to kill off everything but a viable strain and the reproductive rate then intensifies as the competitors have been eliminated. The complexity of life forms today amply demonstrates evolution's capability to do almost unimaginable things.

That's called a circular argument.
