1. So long as rapists, murderers and other nasty people like this are in existence, the world is a bad place. The existence of Bush and Blair also make this world a bad place. The fact that our government is talking about reducing the jail sentences of rapists when they aren't long enough to begin with makes this world a bad place.

4. Maybe we might have found a cure for all sicknesses in the future, I don't know. But then new ones could surface. And as far as I'm concerned, the human race is too self destructive and we consider ourselves too infallable for our world to be peaceful and utopic. Nope I say that there will be more wars and more poverty in the future owing to the rich being driven by money for themselves and themselves alone and by religious groups conflicting or cultural differences sparking up wars and stuff. We say that we can tolerate others' cultures and religions, but we can't not really otherwise why would there be wars if we could?

It's a terrible place. I can't even begin to count the number of problems. First of all, there's global warming--which granted isn't as bad as it's GONNA be (it's going to totally demolish Africa's economy for one thing, as if that country wasn't already facing enough problems like a lack of food/water, corrupt politicians, AIDS/HIV, etc.). Then there's the way that nearly all Americans are slaves to corporations that rule the world despite showing all the symptoms of the psychopath--capitalism at its worse and nobody doing anything about it. There's the state of the environment. There's the corruption within the government (and the fact that the US government doesn't care about its people (see its failure to act during 9/11 and Katrina), as well as the fact that a lot of people deny it or don't care). There's the severe inequality (loads of people working 24/7 on minimum wage jobs that don't even pay them enough to live on, while an elitist upper class has more money than they could ever spend and keeps getting richer!). There's the unjust Iraq war. There's the presence of religion and the way people are fighting each other about it (Sunnis, Kurds, and Shiites battling over what form of Islam the Iraqi consitution will be based around, even though the differences between them are extremely minor). There's racism, sexism, prejudice in general. The world's resources are being drained, and the US is draining about 40% of them--again, inequality. There's a constant sense of bigotry and jingoism in the richer countries, while there's extreme poverty in the poorer ones. There's intollerance of homosexuals (think of it as the modern prejudice, what racism was back in the day, but racism is still around too). There's the extremely corrupt and controlled media. The patriot act. The way that we could all be being spied on this very moment and not know it. American culture's all out of whack. People are desensitized to violence, even want it. Most countries refuse to give up militarism. Most people will refuse to give up their right to have guns even though if nobody had guns, they'd have no reason to have guns in fear of other people with guns. People trust the news stations that are controlled by the government because that's all they have to watch/read/listen to to know what's going on in the world. In America there is a fear of terrorists combined with a biggoted nationalism, when it is that very nationalism, that very pompous attitude and blissful ignorance of the country's flaws, that made the world so angry at the country in the first place. There's extreme obesity, too.
2. In respects to current events in the past 5 or 6 years, how would you consider it?
Ain't getting better! Never was very good, but ain't getting better!
3. Do you believe it will get better or should it get better if it is not already not as good as it should be?
Pfff, it won't get better. It SHOULD get better, but it won't. There'll always be prejudice and war and exploitation of the poor.
4. Do you believe in a time in the future where wars, sicknesses and poverties like a utopia will not exist? OR simply a time of greator peace and properities?
It's possible, but not probable at all. Rather, I see a future where we've all nuked the living hell out of each other and still continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. History repeats itself, no matter how much the technology evolves.
There are some excellent people in our world - and I am very thankful they exist. However, there are also a lot of scummy, mendacious bastards (and that's only the political class!) that inhabit this stinking planet we call 'Earth' too.
Pretty terrible - wars, excessive statism, increasingly authoritarian governments, restrictions (and outright removal) of liberty.
In my opinion, this is only going to get worse in the years ahead.
I don't think that's possible, nor will it be ever possible. Man's propensity and will to humiliate, massacre and control people is too strong for all of that, quite frankly.
The world is only as good as the people in it, and sadly there are more bad then there are good from what I have seen, and if history is any indication, that trend will continue. I take the starfish approach to life, but I don't think many people now a days would understand it much less practice it.
The last 5 or 6 years have only made me realize that the phrase "A person is smart, People are dumb" is so true. My country has come down with lemming syndrome and is destroying itself. 200 years is still infancy when it comes to a country, and yet we act like we have been a world power forever and can act with impunity against the world.
I don't believe in it's current state it will improve, I think if it does it will be like a phoenix. Only after everything has come down around it and we are starting over at the ashes will we be able to have the collective ability to learn from our mistakes and try to do better in the future. (Mans greatest moments seemed to be defined by tragedy, people seem to show themselves at their most compassionate, their most heroic, their most loving, in extreme situations)
I don't believe we will ever be without war, sickness or any of that. Mankinds biggest foe is ourselves and we seem almost determined to destroy our planet, our health, our peace. Technology cannot change human nature even if it can minimize the effects of it.

1. Do you believe the world to be a bad place or a good place, perhaps somewhat of both?
The world is somewhat of both really. There are terrible people who do terrible things and stuff like that but there are also working systems that support people and families and stuff like that. I really can't see the world as a bad place or a good place as it really has qualities of both and always has.
2. In respects to current events in the past 5 or 6 years, how would you consider it?
The events that have happened are sort of negative but not majorly so. The US is facing some problems with the economy in terms of national debt and such but it will recover. Hopefully Iraq will improve; at the very worst it will go back to what it was. The world isn't doing too incredibly bad, I am confident that the future will be alright so long as we try to prepare for it.
3. Do you believe it will get better or should it get better if it is not already not as good as it should be?
I don't think that the world will really get better. Well.... it may oscillate between highs and lows but still, the entire world will not likely become a dystopia and stay that way. Mind control at such a massive scale is only found in fiction, either based on pure imagination or the warped ideas of the world's workings. I think that mankind will do alright in the future.
4. Do you believe in a time in the future where wars, sicknesses and poverties like a utopia will not exist? OR simply a time of greator peace and properities?
I don't think the world will ever have a Golden Age where all is peachy keen. Human nature would forever keep us from having this. However the world might improve in the future, but we do face great problems before this happens.

1. the world is what it is...good and bad are relative terms for the most part.
2. i'm not in favor of a lot of what's happened in the last 5 or 6 years but i also don't know everything that goes on...just what i'm told.
3. i'm hoping things will get better....the political pendulum swings so it'll eventually swing to a point i like....maybe.
4. the future is a theory, the past is a memory, now is all that exists. will that stuff happen? not in my lifetime. most likely not in my lifetime. will it happen ever? dunno.

1. Some parts are good, others sucky.
2. Gotten worse, and worse. How many people have died within past too years?
3. Nope. I've noticed that the world has slowly been declining throughout history.
4. Until Jesus comes back, no chance. Until then, there will always be evil, corrupt people in the world, and thus more war.
the question is how good should the world be? and that depends on our expectation of life. as long as the majority view life in terms of material gain and fetishising money, "things" above everything else, it cannot be any better than it is now, and innevitably can only get worse. we debase our own unlimited potential.
the world has the potential to be a lot more than it is now, but not until we can rise above the exploitative tendency of society and civilisation.
