Then who would you vote for?

Forget the rigmarole of the electoral systems. Lets say you could put anyone other than yourself in control of your nation.

Who would you actually want to lead your nation?

Al Gore. My opinion of the 2000 Gore vs. Bush election: One candidate got more votes, the other became president. One started multiple wars, the other got a Nobel Peace Prize. I think Gore deserves it more than anybody. He would make a good president and he would solve our environmental issues too.

The office has became a joke, lets put a comedian into it.

i would definitely choose the dalai lama. anyone beloved enough by their people to inspire them to risk their lives just to possess a photo of him gets my vote. he's shown unfailingly that he can inspire, that he's intelligent, that he has a great heart, and that he's a citizen of the modern world, with a strong and pretty cool tradition behind that. he also encourages people to think for themselves, which i don't see too often anywhere. i respect and trust that.

mostly, tho, i don't think humans do very well as leaders, let alone rulers, of others. i think people would do far better with small tribes. for one thing, you cannot have world wars and such without large nation-states. for another, the human mind deals poorly with such massive endeavors. there are studies showing this.

Though it is impossible to consider every detail in a war, it is possible to consider differing levels of complexity. Troop movements and placements. General strategies. Tactics to mess with the strategies of others. Have you ever played a Real Time Strategy game? I mainly play against other computers, but sometimes against people as well.

I would have wanted Charelton Heston for president. As for someone living, maybe either Sam Brownback or Billy Graham.

I would vote for Michael Newdow, the nation's most famous atheist.

(He's the guy who complained about "under God" being in the Pledge of Allegiance, and "so help me God" in the Oath of Office)

I feel that he would ban religion, and if religion is banned, my chances of getting laid dramatically increase, because people will be afraid to practice abstinence until marriage out of fear that they will be thrown in jail (or possibly even executed) for being "religious".

I'd vote for the Wu-Tang Clan because nobody f***s with them.

Leading part topic

For PM of Canada I would chose John Tory, a former Conservative party leader of Ontario, or David Crombie, a former Toronto Mayor. Not because of their politics, but because of their rare honesty.

For a woman leader I would have chosen Mississauga's mayor Hazel McCallion, but I am disappointed because of her son's recent conflict of interest incident which is now undergoing a legal review.

That makes him an ideal leader.
