Despite the razz in the title, I am serious about this question: How is the tradition of eucharist not cannibalism?
Several churches hold the believe in the Real Presence.

How is transubstantiation not cannibalism for a true believer? I don’t understand how anyone can stand going trough the eucharist. I would’ve felt sick.

How is this not blasphemy?

Eucharist = to give thanks (Greek)

Thanks for the sacrifice Jesus made....... This is my body, this is my blood, do this in commemoration of me.

The Last Supper ,.... in fact Passover.


The staples of life.... bread, and ceremoniously Wine.
Communion ..... to share as a " group being as one"

Personally I find being conscious of a roast being a dead animal, killed ( sacrificed) for human consumption offensive also. Most people don't consciously think of the actual living lamb, cow, chicken etc when they're devouring it.

So I guess those who choose not to see the celebration of Thanks ( Eucharist) as a Metaphor, either don't actually think about it... it has been sanitised into bread and wine... sort of like "collateral damage" in war terminology.

Yep! to have conscious awareness of it is only one step worse than being consciously aware of the animal one eats.

Does seem to equalise out animals and people.... as sacrifices.... taking of a life.....

Here goes:

The gospels were written many years after Jesus' death and we don't even know who wrote them.

"This is my body....." Did he really say that? Who knows?

As I understand it blessing the wine and the bread was a thing that Jews did then and still do to this day.

So Jesus blessed the bread and the wine. So what?

The gospels were "slanted" to make converts from the pagans.

Christianity talks about being "washed in the blood of the lamb" while Mithraesm talks about being washed in the blood of the bull.

We believe that Jesus was born on the 25th of December which just happens to be the winter solstice.

Many "gods" were born on that day.

I went to a Catholic school until I was 11. I kept hearing that Christ died for our sins, but nobody ever told me what the hell that meant. Then again, I never asked.

Christianity, chiefly roman catholicism, have the cannabalism of their leader in their ceremonies as it is considered the ultimate togetherness. Literally becoming one with the person in question by eating them.

This isn't unheard of in other places, real human cannabalism has occured throughout history.

People are missing the point, it doesn't matter whether you take it literally or not.

The OP is ONLY talking about those who take it literally.

Presumably this means they also believe that they excrete christ?

Ewecharist is only celebrated by really lonely shepherds...
