What is the meaning of true happiness? If it's not having alot of money or having alot of friends, what is true happiness? How can one become truly happy?

The only meaning to anything is what you assign to it.

This is one - http://www.perfectrighteousness.com/Happiness.htm

or this:
"You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life." Albert Camus.

"My life has no purpose, no direction, no aim, no meaning, and yet I'm happy. I can't figure it out. What am I doing right?" Charles Schulz.

Frankly I don't give a damn about happiness. If I'm not suffering or have no lack of basic essentials such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care or communication with the world and if I remain involved with solving interesting problems happiness is not anything that interests me.

Happiness is a warm gun...

And when I feel my finger on your trigger

I know nobody can do me no harm

Happiness is a warm gun

...of course I'd mostly define these lyrics to men given the happy reactions on their faces once they have a gun or rifle in their hands. Must have something to do with phallic worship of some sort.

Anyway...I guess happiness for me was in my childhood...before I knew the reality of the cold hard world.

Happiness is a feeling caused by hormones in the brain. Many humans try to aim for that feeling, so evolution favours those for whom happiness correlates with evolutionary success. That's why many people enjoy mating when the opportunity arises, eating when hungry, sleeping when tired, learning new things when given the chance, achieving goals they believe will improve their lives, etc.

What comes out of the barrel of a gun is not love and a squirt of creative sperms. If you need a gun to be happy you are basically torn by insecurity. People who are more tranquil have settled in their minds that there is no absolute security and can live with that.

I'd say happiness is a state of mind =.= and various people take various ways to reach it. :o

Since I am puzzled by humanity quite a lot I cannot say what goes on in human minds in general but as for me, my mind goes through continuous transitions and if one of them is briefly happiness I probably wouldn't give it much thought.

ok, let me add "true" to my last bit. <.< Happiness can be found everyday in small things you do. True happiness is a bit harder to reach.

Until you define "true" in this context you are talking mysteries.

Quote:
What is true happiness"

i guess it is satisfaction about the truth of why you are happy.

to be happy based upon a foundation that contains flaws that are ignored, is to be insecure as to the permanence of happiness.

to be utterly convinced of the correctness of the foundation of ones happiness i think is to be truly happy.

^ I'd say a combination of that and inner peace/contentment (being satisfied with oneself and ones life).
