List anything you can think of.

I think Richard Dawkins' books have explained pretty much everything for me.

Oh, there are plenty of things I'd like good explanations to, I find evolutionary biology fascinating. Unfortunately, I don't really have much time to spend reading about it anymore since I'm primarily studying mathematics.

I don't believe in evolution, but my friend once said that she would like to see an evolutionist explain why Cats purr, and I began to wonder what the you guys would like to see an Evolutionist explain.

a) Believe in? It isn't like some fake boogie man god figure where nothing is really there but everyone has "faith" in it anyways. Evolution is a natural process of selection that occurs throughout all of the history of life. It just happens, regardless of if you believe in it or not.

b) Evolution isn't out to explain things like "why cats purr" so much as tracing a historic, genetic lineage of all living creatures. "Why" is barely a scientific question and is more subject to conjecture and speculation than much of any real scientific fact shy of finding the mechanism...which is, itself, not always the most pleasing of answers because evolution doesn't work in such a decided fashion so much as very haphazardly assembled (don't believe me? look up about that blind spot that everyone has in their vision).

I've never read a satisfactory evolutionary explanation of female sexual pleasure.

There seems to be huge reluctance to admit that for the majority of women, the greatest, if not the only sexual pleasure, comes from non-reproductive stimulation. The various convoluted arguments I've heard to 'prove' that this is nevertheless some kind of adaptation to a reproductive end don't seem logical. (They sound, in fact, a lot like guys attempting to suggest that the kind of sex they find most fun is the only 'proper' kind.)

One thing that evolutionists do NOT explain is how life originated in the first place. They only explain or attempt to explain how life modified over a long period of time. Darwin did not use the term "evolution". He used the phrase "descent with modification".

Why not? Monkeys and men descending from a common ancestor a long time ago. And there is no necessity for the original population to disappear. Since evolution often occurs when one portion of the population becomes geographically or climatically isolated from another portion, one portion can be modified in time and the original population still remain pretty much as it was.

Judging from the question you asked, I infer you do not know what evolution or the theory of evolution is.

That was sarcasm. This is an argument that is repeated ad nauseum by weekend Creationists who don't take the time to read the longer apologetics and stick to the one liners... :|

Evolution isn't something you "believe in" any more than you believe in gravity, electromagnetism, or atoms. It has quite a bit of evidence backing it up, and none that really contradicts it.

There's this fancy thing called Google that can help answer some of your questions. I don't know how a purring cat is somehow a challenge to evolution.

Also, referring to people who accept evolution as a valid theory is rather silly. I don't refer to myself as a heliocentrist, after all.

Yeah I've never understood that either.... :?

I hate to say it but I never found the "proper" no where near as stimulating as rubbing or arousing the...well nevermind this isn't the adult forum.......> >

I'm sure you could describe it using a series of clever philosophical and religious euphemisms.

i.e.
You find it more pleasurable when the guy is marxing your neitzsche, then when he is baptizing his schoppenhaur in your lazarus chamber

None at the moment. That whole world of origin of life and species is moving so rapidly to being completely flipped on its head - by both the math and the science - that the reader who knows what books to look for likely isn't too far behind the scientists anymore. Its likely that by the time the next decade is over we'll have a very different take on the topic than we do today.
