May Day has nothing to do with politics.

May Day is the start of the spring festival;. We should picnic in the outdoors, pick and garland our heads with spring flowers.
We should dance around the maypole.

In May the young virgins should walk naked through the fields to ensure a good crop.

We should build fires and have a feast and everyone copulates with everyone else.

You gotta hand it to the old pagans. They knew how to party! :D

Plenty of warm celebrations throughout the world, and, in the USA, which is the birthplace of May Day, absolutely nothing.

The first day of May carries significant importance for me because it signifies the start of the last full month of the school year. All I have to do is get through this month and then the first week of June and I'll be done with high school! :)

The Finns call it Vappu and don red false noses and drink koskenkorva (Finnish vodka) and run through the woods naked and get down to serious business.

I was also going to ask if you eat those Amanita muscaria mushrooms as part of the celebration, but it is too early in the season.
