Do you have difficulty imagining an invisible God/God King in the sky above the city of Jerusalem, Israel?

Yes, I think we are reading it wrong.

Two options are possible:

1. The actual descriptions are not of God or of angels but of extraterrestrials

2. It is a metaphor for something contemporary mankind was not yet able to understand otherwise.

In fact, I can even imagine a scenario in which both could be true. If you read the gospel of Judas there is a hint as to the various 'levels' in which we can see God.
The existence of God does not rule out the existence of aliens.

I can quite easily imagine an invisible God//King in the sky above the city of Jerusalem, Israel.
I also find it easy to imagine that my government are just, most television is entertaining, and Metallica are a good band.

It doesn't make any of these true.

Metallica is a GREAT band, perhaps one of the most influential groups of all time. Just government, entertaining television--OK, I can understand those kinds of things being debatable. I can even understand the objections to the existence of a perfect, benevolent God of the Bible.

But Metallica?

You need your head checked.

Further proof that clarinetists have no musical taste.

I believe it depends on some issues and circumstances, if I was born in ancient Israel, it would not be difficult at all, the opossite would be.

The issue is, as it seems, that the belief in God is as subjective as believing Metallica is a good band or the best band.

I mean, sure we can argue about God all day long.

But implying that Metallica are a good band is only imagined? Preposterous. Metallica ARE a good band. That is REAL, not imagined. Anyone saying otherwise is guilty of blasphemy and deserves to get stoned, and I DON'T mean in a good way!! !!

Metallica WERE a good band...then they were a s**t band...then they did Death Magnetic and got a bit better again.

@ the OP: I can't help but point out that if you look outside right now and look skywards...THAT is exactly what an invisible god looks like anywhere in the world. Only the position of the stars changes.

He wasn't in St Anger. That album was absolute bollocks.

well, it depends on what is our criteria to conclude that it is a good band, is it succes? is it fame? is it because the performers are sexy? is it because the music is good to our ears? is it because of artistic merits regarding composition and innovation?

Or how about the level of awesomeness that has never been achieved before or since?

And what is awesomeness exactly, is it related to what I mentioned before? What I mean, is that the fact that we prefer a certain performer or musical group is related to our own taste, therefore saying this band is great is no more than a personal preference, because there are people who hate Metallica, as well as there are others who love them as well as there are others who believe another band is way better. Unless you justify that aspect within artistic grounds, but saying they are the coolest doesn't cut it.
