In what part of the body does God live?

There is the idea from the Bible (New Testament primarily) that God lives in the human body but where does God live in the human body?

How much of the human body can be removed without taking God out of the human body?

For example, does a haircut remove God from the body?

Does losing a leg remove God from the body?

Does losing two legs remove God from the body?

In my (perhaps extremist view), it looks to me like God resides in the human brain/mind.

To go even further, God resides in the part of the human brain/mind which is associated with non-profit religions.

To go even further, God is really an idea which resides in the human brain/mind as perhaps one (or more) neurons.

As long as that idea of a God neuron exists, God exists as an idea.

To go even further, one dies.

One is cremated.

No neurons remain.

Where is God then?

ruveyn - Have also heard the temporal lobes are part of the idea of spirituality, particularly the right temporal lobe.

Also, there apparently is an interconnection between the left frontal cortex and right frontal cortex which is a part of personality. It's both frontal lobes.

That's my understanding/part of my understanding.

This would be a paraphrasical quote, since I'm not looking it up for you. It would be in the early-to-mid chapters of 1st Kings when Solomon is dedicating the temple,

"The heavens cannot hold you Lord, how much less for you to dwell in this temple..."


Which also the music band Third Day paraphrased "...to dwell in me". Which is deduced from this and a passage from the mid-chapters of 1st Corinthians.

The idea of God can be quite large to the idea of infinity/infinity plus.

God cannot fit in a temple.

God is everywhere except heck; some would say God is in heck too as well as in heaven.

God is described as living in the heart of man/woman - hearts of men/women.

There certainly is the idea that God can be visited for several hours each week in temples and churches it seems to me by attending temple/church services.

God apparently is talking 24 hours a day using Christian TV such as TBN, CBN, and so on (satellites in the sky - holy beamers as TBN calls them).

That idea, regardless of popularity, is incorrect. Such is a dedication of time for fellowship with other believers and worshiping together, and also is usually were the Greek notion of a lecture is carried out as well.

Well, God started out in an apartment in my amygdala, but the neighbourhood began to get a bit noisy, so he moved up to a townhouse in a pre-frontal cortex. Once he had a larger family, he really needed more room, so he decided that he would look for a house with some land in the suburbs, finally settling on the hypograstric plexus. But that neighbourhood is really starting to go downhill, and the commute's a b***h, so he's probably going to have to sell and move closer in.

He's eyeing a property in the cardiac plexus, but the listing is priced out of reach at the moment...

If God is an idea, then it can be stolen. Or implanted.

Agree. It's my understanding that today - year 2010 - neuroscience does not yet know exactly where letters and numbers are stored on a neuron so the idea of stealing and implanting engrams is not yet here (along the lines of using a computer chip to download information into a human brain or upload information from the human brain. The idea is present in some science fiction but it is not yet science fact to my knowledge).

Theoretical goal: To be able to change the personality and IQ of Homer Simpson with a simple computer program (perhaps designed by his daughter, Lisa, and his son, Bart)(...just kidding a little...)
