Forget about the Mayan Calender.

Look at our own calender!

Consider next year's Veteran's Day.

It will fall on November eleven, 2011.

Yes- it will be 11-11-11!

A string of ones filling up the whole odometer of time!
Is that chilling or what?

At the stoke of midnight everything will go up in a puff of smoke!
And the whole shebang will start all over again!

Well- its the same logic as this Mayan Calender thing. If a people can count they can fortell the future.
Why not?

And it won't happen again for another 100 years. I like these interesting mathematical dates but they don't signal the end of the world.

Not so. The date is 11-11-2011. We are way past 11-11-1111

Nonsense, if the world was gonna end on any day, it would have been 6/6/6.

8O

We're all gonna die.

Though, you're also gonna die whenever you use bar codes, because they say 666 too.

So, if the world will end on 11/11/11, wouldn't it make more sense for it to happen in the morning, at 11:11:11, rather than midnight?

And at what point on the Earth? There are different time zones.

Forgot about that.

Yeah eleven minutes, and eleven seconds, past eleven AM, Nov. eleventh, next year!

Poof!

Or the Rapture, or whatever!

There will time for one last brunch!

How about January 22nd, 2179 at 2:17 pm.

I just made that up. It's probably closer to reality than any thoughtout doomsday scenario.

Though I know you're being ludicrous, by the same logic the 62nd anniversary of D-day would have been even worse. That was on June 6th, 2006 though, and we're still here.

The world won't end when people claim it will. It never does.

And the people who claim it will inevitably look foolish afterwards and either have to come up with a new date or retire somewhere in the tropics with money they conned people out of, or perhaps a mix of both. Even in the Bible, it says "no one knows the day or hour" as in the time of Christ's return, so anyone claiming to be Christian while professing some random date is at the very least scripturally ignorant. As for all the random calendar numbers, they mean about as much as a throw of dice.

My guess is that humans will end before the world itself ends.

That is a good bet. If the past is any guide to the future, take note that mammalian species do not have a very long shelf life. Insects do better and one cell critters do best of all.

No, we thought the world would end many times before, and look----- were STILL here!
