In your view, the one, true, absolutely non-profit, tax-exempt religion in the world today is?

My view: There is none.

In my view, Joseph Campbell speaks most candidly on the whole topic.

---

If I put Joseph Campbell aside, in terms of the idea of a western God of sorts, I would likely
lean toward the religion of Judaism which invented an invisible single God in the sky.

Judaism invented God, not Christianity.

Personally I prefer an invisible God vs for example, a giant doll called Buddha made out of gold or jade.

For some reason, I was never attracted to consider worshipping the hot sun or the large white circle in the sky known as the moon.

Your experiences?

Your views on the topic?

Where do the Gods/Goddesses live? Mt. Olympus, Greece

In Greek mythology the mountain was regarded as the "home of the gods", specifically of the Twelve Olympians, the twelve principal gods of the Classical Greek and Hellenistic worlds.

Are you sure you have considered them all, or are you simply embracing a proffered opinion?

In any case, and even if done "religiously", living in worship of the One who created us is not even a religion.

Joseph Campbell did not look at every single religion in the world. There are too many - literally tens of thousands or more.

Neither have I. There are too many religions for anyone to look at all the religions, try to figure out what they mean/don't mean, and then make a decision based on looking at the whole list.

Religions are being invented everyday around the world.

A few years ago (in terms of time), neither Mormonism nor Scientology existed. Then both were cooked up in the kitchen of religions by humans and today, year 2010, both Mormonism and Scientology are viewed as non-profit, tax-exempt religions.

Some persons believe that both the Democrat Party and the Republican Party today - year 2010 - are actually religions, not political parties.

Theravadin monks do not handle any money at all. They do not have possessions besides up to 2 robes and an alms bowl for people to give them the food for their daily meal.

So then, what do you say of "living in worship of the One who created us"?

Living in worship of the ones who created us - to me - sounds like ancestor worship.

Living in worship of the One who created us sounds to me like a valid, non-profit, tax-exempt religion if the person(s) behind such a religion complete the IRS paperwork and perhaps purchase bumper stickers (to advertise such a religion) and schedule weekly worship services so as to meet IRS/US Supreme Court definitions for a completely valid, non-profit, tax-exempt religion.

I had said nothing of living in worship of "the ones who created us".

What do you say of living in worship of the One who created us?

Why bother to worship anything. It's a kind of neurotic tic. I've never suffered from it.

Why worship? If any One or one's created us they had their own agenda.

We each and all live in worship of something or someone.

So?

One thing at a time, please. I had asked a question.

See, this is what happens when one begins with an agenda.

No, am not joking. The idea of God comes from the Old Testament of the Bible (which comes from Judaism).

Judaism

Judaism vs Judeo-Christianity

1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

http://etext.virginia.edu/toc/modeng/pu ... vGene.html (Chapter 1 - Genesis)

Judaism invented the God of western civilization. (Simplified)

That's my view today.

Wrong. Scripture simply reports "the idea of 'God'" as having come from an historical experience at a mountain.
