Is there a fundamental difference between deleting a post on a (random) forum by a moderator and burning a book?

Yes. Book burning is implicitly violent. What was it the Goethe said? Wherever they burn books sooner or later they burn people.

Not really, no. People just get all huffy about burning the book for some reason.

The fundamental difference is that burning a few books is symbolic since it is unlikely that all editions of the book are consumed. When a moderator wipes out a post it is completely gone.

So a deleting internet moderator is worse than this 9/11 Florida vicar.

No, there's no fundamental difference. Some books are so stupid they're worth burning. Some posts are also so stupid they're worth deleting.

A book saying: "kill the infidels" is worth burning then?
