OK. Here goes nothing...

The thing is, I just recently found out that I was born a medium (this runs in my mother's side of the family), while this ability is dormant and I have not actually seen or communicated with spirits since I was a small child, I REALLY need your help! I am well aware that the bible forbids communication with the dead, and this is why I am asking you for assistance. If God prohibits communication with spirits other than testing them, then why would he give you, if not simply allow you to have, the ability to do the very thing you are not supposed to be doing? Am I cursed or blessed? Am I an abomination in God's eyes? How does he view me because of this "sixth sense"? I have read certain passages on the subject of mediums and communicating with spirits, but they do not seem to say much about those who were BORN capable of such things, and they don't really seem to answer my question of "why?". I am turning to you guys for your opinions on the matter, not because I think anyone who replies to this knows more than, or as much as, God himself.

PLEASE believe me when I say this and do not assume I am a "wacko" or "looney-tunes". I really need some help.

here goes nothing. lived a long time, seen a lot of things......but no mediums. they do not exist. my sister thinks her home is infested with small demons.....that things levitate......that ghosts are talking to her. no proof. none. a long time ago i said to her in a letter that i would give her my car (35th anniversary edition corvette!) if she could show me one of these things happening. eons have passed. silence.

so, you don't believe me. do you have a religious leader/big deal/chief/whomever that you could talk to about this? you need to talk to someone. how can you do this to yourself? someone has sent you down this path, right? stay away from that person.

You are not a medium. Just refrain from using your nonexistent abilities and you'll be fine.

No such thing. You are deluding yourself. Which is not surprising considering you consider yourself a Christian.l

LiberalJustice, sadly you got pretty typical reactions from people posting on this forum type.

I'll PM you instead.

While I agree with the other posters that this ability doesn't exist, I think their way of saying it was a bit unhelpful.

You haven't done anything since you were little. If you've managed to not do anything for years and years, chances are you can continue to not do it.

If you accidentally do something wrong without meaning to, God's not going to get pissed off at you.

I reject your premise and substitute my own: you weren't.

It's interesting that you appear to have believed whoever it was that told you that you were born a medium, without actually having any evidence for the existence of such an ability, ( in yourself, at least ).

What makes you think that there is any truth at all in their assertion?

What motivation do you think you might have for believing such a statement?

There is no such thing as a true Medium. This is the only world we live in. There is no other accessible to us. People who believe in Mediums are truly deluded.

There may be people who grasp nuances and subtleties and are more sensitive than others, but they are natural folks. No Mediums...... Period.

It is easy to talk with the dead. The hard thing is they talk back to you. :)

OK, guys, hold on...

I don't know about being "born" a medium, that seems a bit fishy to me. What I will say, in regards to Christianity, is we are all born with a sinful nature. So that could predispose us to all sorts of behaviors and things the Bible condemns. That might even include demon possession, don't you think? While the OT demonstrates that persons could conceivably act as mediums, the NT demonstrates that such CAN be aided by demon possession. Assuming you're serious, consider seeing some sort of Christian spiritual advisor (priest/pastor/rabbi/etc.) about exorcism. It could be as simple as invoking the Lord's name, might involve laying on hands, or might require earnest, sincere prayer.

If you think I'm joking, I'm only as serious as you are. The main thing is, whether being a medium due to an inherently sinful predisposition to communing with the dead, or spirit possession, is that such things are overcome through faith. If you are adept at speaking with the dead, simply stop it and pray, as in the Model Prayer, that God will "lead" you "not into temptation." That's not a guarantee of ease in your journey, but it's a good first step.

You are NOT an abomination. If you recognize that you are a sinner deserving of death and that Christ died to atone for your sins, you need not be concerned with such things. If you believe, you have nothing to worry about. But because of the gift of eternal life, it's likely you don't want to engage in behavior contrary to Biblical teaching.

The dead communicate with me all the time, but it only goes one way, and it tends to be fragmentary and incomplete. I think the word for it is "history."

I shall reply via PM because I do not want to submit my input to the mockery of unbelievers.
