* "At-will Employment"
* Lack of freedom of speech in the workplace.
* Lack of job security for anyone except politicians.
* Pogonophobia.
* Racism being committed in opposition to having the appearance of racism.
* Too many laws existent to ever know - and more made each year.
* Abuse of authority
* That people in high ranks often do not seem to understand the situations of their subordinates - and may not care either.
* That people in general are self-centered and stupid.
* That the unemployed are blamed for being unemployed.
* That most movies today consist of overly simplistic plots made to fit with the special effects budget.
* That apartments are the legal property of the management and can be invaded without necessary warrant by inspectors or management.
* That too many people today are policy mongering idiots.
* That managers are often myopic when it comes to seeing beyond the realm of their desk.
* That people get paid more to sit and do nothing than those who stand and do everything.

Nonsense, there's many perfectly good professionals who also have very secure jobs thanks to professional class protectionism and professional class unionization (whereas low-level retail service worker's lack effective unions).

Not nonsense. Professionals still lose work, either by layoffs or firings. Senators, Congress members, Presidents, Judges, et al, are given contracts which, after employment on election days, they do not have to worry about until the end of their term. Some professionals do have contracts, but if you consider how easily they can lose their employment in comparison to a politician you would see that the job security of politicians in general dwarfs that of professionals in general.

That is a rather insightful list into our basic human shortcomings. Is there any hope for our species?

No. In terms of the timespan of this universe, humankind will never change. The exact faults and failings and corruptions may change along with circumstances, but it will basically be the same all throughout.

Anybody with the slightest acquaintance with evolution is aware that all life changes with time and circumstance or ceases to exist.

Well you could always choose to believe all of these problems are the fault of an overpriced apple or you can accept that your ability to complain exposes our ability to affect the reality in which we find ourselves for mutual benefit.

If you're gonna stick with option one, you should probably quit whining.

If option two, you might consider that laws and rules are made by people and that we can not only find a better path but also take it. In this option, you should continue to take note of these grievances.

I would love to think this post is an indication that you are beginning to accept a more complicated worldview.

I'm really good at wishful thinking, sometimes.

Whining is all I can do. A single voice amongst three hundred million is irrelevant. Against billions it is even less important. If you don't want to hear whining, do like everyone else and just don't listen.

This is why God doesn't exist.

Even if we didn't have at-will employment, the incidence of costs isn't going to just fall on the employer, but also the employee. Employers will be less willing to hire people if every person they hire requires a bureaucratic mess to fire.

The existence of all of these laws is itself just an arms race that politicians favor in order to get elected. Do you think that they will get elected if they don't sign the "Save babies and help chidlren" act? Not really, so even if the law is useless, politicians have more incentive to sign than not to, just because they'll only be blamed for signing horrible laws, and generally be rewarded for legislative intent for mildly bad or mediocre laws.

Ultimately, a lot of these problems are very driven by the nature of society, and by things that will happen even if a lot of people don't desire them to happen. Other problems are driven by the nature of the world. But yes, your voicelessness, your powerlessness, and so on, are to be totally expected in reality, and it is difficult to say that God is even relevant given those facts. (Note: If God is irrelevant, then on some level, he cannot exist, as the relevance of God is likely part of our conceptual definition of a personal God. If God is so hamstrung by the limitations of reality, or the needs of his plans that he cannot provide a voice, then he cannot really be personal. He is reduced to a cosmological bureaucrat. Second note: that argument is a quick draft of a potential argument against a personal God. I think I could refine it a lot more, but.... I thought it was an interesting idea, so I put it out there.)

You don't have to watch sh***y movies, pay high taxes, obey the law, or let the government force you into sacrificing even a little bit of your personal happiness in the name of whatever happens to be the hot issue at the moment. The government's resources are extremely limited. As long as you don't challenge them publically, there are usually ways of doing what you want with minimal risk of serious legal repercussion.

I have high job security because I sell software to the government that they need to conform with legally-mandated accountability laws.

I pay extremely low taxes since I am an independent contractor and, in addition to not having to pay for disability and unemployment insurance, I can deduct almost all of my bills and auto expenses. My wage is also higher since my employer doesn't have to pay a payroll tax or have to have workman's comp insurance.

Instead of trying to change the unchangeable, devote your limited resources to finding the rare bits of good in this world (different people will have different ideas of what's good, of course). Don't waste your life trying to change other people. There are people who already agree with you, you just have to find them. You could whine, but it won't do you any good in the end.

Fear of Beards is a basic human shortcoming? We must be totally cluster-fucked then.

Hey, it's a Minnesota standard staple of living. Fear of beards is as fear of beards does, namely stinks like hydrogen sulfide.

Hey, I am obligated to do occasional acts to show stridency. It is not as if DentArthurDent, or Master_Pedant came forward to say that. No, only I would have the stridency to do that. I am king for a reason.

YOU HEAR THAT MASTER_PEDANT!! I AM STRIDENT! !!

Oh my imaginary god (whose genitals outweigh your god's genitals)! Someone used the word "strident" to mean "strident" in ppr!

I'm amazed.

Also: shouting "no! That's impossible!" didn't make vader any less luke's father. Shouting "false" doesn't seem like it would be any more effective.
