Although I'm certain there's some anti-colonial, anti-"imperialist", and anti-American people who will reply here, Happy Thanksgiving anyway!

Happy indeed.

It helps to be reminded - life does have some very good features.

Was there enough room aboard the Mayflower to carry a table that size along with the chairs?

I don't know, it's just able to hold about 180 tons of cargo, so probably so. The Spaniards used a similar type of ship, the galleon, to carry gold.

If nothing else, people used to learn more practical skills, like carpentry, in general then and it's not like there aren't trees around to be made into furniture or walls even now (although with more people the resource would be depleted faster, hence all the random laws of today which wouldn't have applied to a handful of settlers versus a few million inhabitants.)

gold takes up less room because it is very dense.

Belated! I had fun, lots of turkey, lots of stuffing, lots of Jameson.

Believe it or not, back in those days people actually *made* things

(though I'll admit - we might see some artistic liberty here)
