Thanks for that.- the comment preceding seems a bit strange to me. Of all the visible leaders I know anything about today, Pope Benedict is about the only one from whom I could believe "Nolo episcopari".

Yes, I think Pope Benedict is better equipped for the task than most people give him credit for. I used to love reading his work when he was a Cardinal.

John Paul was a hard act to follow - solid and tough but good with the media withal. I liked Benedict as soon as I saw him, would not be in his shoes for love nor money - it would have to be straight from God and even then I would go through a few let this cup pass repetitions.

On the contrary, Pope Benedict aka Pope Condom (by hiding child crimes) is more a witness to the devil than for God. Pope Benedict belongs in jail. Christians worship God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, not the Pope of Italy. Christians use the Bible as their source, not the Italian poetry which comes from Rome. The current Pope belongs in jail along with a number of previous politician Popes of Rome who hid child crimes to save Rome lawsuit money. The current Pope of Italy insists that Catholic condoms are better than Protestant condoms/condoms of other faiths. Total nonsense. No one believes anything which comes from Rome, Italy today. The politician Pope of Rome is no more infallible than Martin Luther/Lutheranism. The current Pope of Italy is about as holy as Marcus Lamb of Daystar Christian TV. The current Pope is a witness to the false idea of a male only king for life - no questions allowed - convert or die (so to speak). The current Pope hates western democracies, married clergy, and women priests. Women priests are evil because they are women (gender discrimination). The World Court in Europe should have asked the Pope to resign, stand trial for hiding child crimes from the secular police around the world, and then go to jail for life. Pope Benedict is more a witness to the devil (mischief) than to the God of Judaism (Judaism - where God was invented). The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan gives a very good summary of the Pope as simply another Pagan. The Pope of Italy years ago tossed out the Bible, God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost from Rome and replaced it all with Pope (aka Roman Emperor) worship. The United States was founded by a non-Catholic, George Washington, and others. President Barack Obama is a Christian, not an Italian Catholic. The United States would never have been founded by a Catholic due to the known conflict of interest between western democracies and Rome. The Pope of Italy is a false witness of the God of the Bible. There are many religions in the world, not just one based in the foreign country of Italy.

Well, are you glad you got all of that bile off of your chest? I think you should stop stealing scripts from Pat Condell

Uncle Sam founded America.

Yes, he was a Mormon, but we don't like speaking of it.

Three of the United States Founding Fathers were Catholic.

Charles Caroll of MD -- signer of Declaration of Independence
Daniel Carroll of MD -- signer of the Articles of Confederation and Constitution
Thomas Fitzsimmons of PA -- signer of the Constitution

I am not sure what exactly pdg is talking about here, or anywhere in his post. However it is worth mentioning the Scottish Decleration of Indepdence (the Declaration of Arbroath):

'...for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.'

The authors of this document were all Catholics
