I have a good and normally very insightful friend. Yes I do so have friends.
The friend - while normally very insightful - had about as much understanding of Christianity - of God - as some of those posting here. That is to say, more than some, but about as much as I had five years before the date of this anecdote. In other words, not much.
So one day I am talking to her on the phone trying to explain. She says :
On a cold morning, neither D nor I wants to get out of a warm bed to turn up the heat. At which point D would say, let Jeeves do it. So - is God like Jeeves, then?
I had to tell her - not exactly.
THAT is the level of awareness I'm talking about. I know it well. I was there over half my life.
