I dont think so! so what if a bad apple uses it for his advantage.

i personally believe guns, are essential. Russia and the USA have guns pointed at each other so why not you, (the person) have a gun? :?

I own 2 guns, a .357 and a shotgun

Shooting bad apples only is a rather peculiar way to make applesauce.

you cant catch every mental illness, or behavior that a person does.

that does NOT mean you take away the rights away from everyone because ONE person is a bad apple!

Russia and the US have guns pointed at each other??? Not in nearly 20 years!

To protect your home and those within it, yes.

Driving around with it and in public, hell no.

Depends on the Gun. If you want a bolt-action hunting rifle then I have really issue with that. If you want a M249 or an M2 Browning then I think I justified in raising an eyebrow.

Hmnn, well, I think that anti-gun legislation does not prevent the use of guns. Violence and shooting people are already illegal, so guys that intend to use guns for illegal purposes will likely use guns even if they were illegal.

But I also think that owning guns is really the ultimate protection against crime or the government. The world is not a fable...

I know many well trained people who have had negligent discharges, so I am worried by your actions.

Actually, i thought it would be a nice backdrop to my point. *WE* need to carry guns and arm ourselves, and its not the goverments rights to tell us we cant!

*as for as nuclear warfare, yeah the government better protect US. that is thier job, not tell states, individuals, or anything how one should live

Meh, guns are highly advanced deadly weapons.
I live in Canada where gun ownership is rare. I have never owned a gun and I don't know anyone who does, and Canada is safer for it I believe.

Post one news article where a legally licensed gun carrier injured a third party with an accidental or negligent discharge in public.

lol machine guns are impractical for criminal uses anyways. There's no frontline when it comes to a standoff between cops and criminals, so you can easily be outflanked. Plus driving around with a big ass machine gun in your trunk is gonna look real suspicious with the lowered suspension on the rear wheels.

I'm not saying any civilian needs machine guns, but I don't think they should be the biggest concern. Same with .50 cal sniper rifles. They are both useless when it comes to criminal practicality.

Shall I just start with Dick Cheney....

@ Ace of Spades

The Branch Davidians had a .50cal. Here is a list of many crimes that used .50cal ordinance. http://www.vpc.org/snipercrime.htm
