Oh, those vids.

Little point my trying, though I did. The talky ones are one thing, I can live with long pauses, I do a lot of pausing myself. But with music - naah.

So I cheated, I ran to find a lyric site that would give it up.

Describe the religious stance? Pre eligious, postreligious, interreligious? What would it be?

Assuming the lyricist - I think before the sound cut he says it is his own? - to be sincere, and since Number 1 Son does music and some lyrics and at least half the time he is pretty much sincere, why shouldn't I? - then we could actually put him not that far from where I used to was:

On the continuum nonantitheist atheist ---> slightly wistful agnostic. Some probable churching in youth, the chorus too "Into thy arms" for coincidence.

If the contents of the song are not too far adjusted from facts, we will sincerely hope they have worked out where they stand and are likely to stand ten years hence on + belief / - belief marriage; the very fact of the song indicates some discussion has taken place.

The total song, of course, is close in spirit to the "help my unbelief" thing, although the two positions are not identical.

Further speculation without additional data would be fruitless.

Einstein said "I believe in the God of Spinoza. A God who set the whole ball of wax in motion, but who does not meddle in human affairs."

Nick Cave seems to have the same view as Einstein and Spinoza.

Ofcourse the song could be taken as ironic and that he is slyly saying that he is conventionally religous despite himself, but I dont think the song is meant to be taken that way.
