On a SF Chronicle article's comment pages (an article about this) somebody posted an old article from 2003 about some bored workers at a plastics factory in Texas who played a practical joke on their coworker, the guy every work floor has who is deeply into the rapture. When he stepped away from his station for a few minutes, everybody left their work coats laying around, then hid in the manager's office. For extra effect, they had the Muslim janitor running around screaming that everybody had disappeared. The guy took one look at the scene and immediately sank to his knees screaming "I knew you'd leave me behind, Jesus! What did I do wrong?" He then had a massive heart attack. After CPR and double bypass surgery, he was at home, recuperating. Then there's the moment every kid of fundies has when he thinks the family's been raptured and he has been left behind to face eternal damnation, at the age of eight. For people who really believe in this stuff, there's the nagging fear that they're never good enough to be raptured.
