So, are the wealthy the majority? Republican/conservative government.
The 'not so wealthy' a majority? Socialdemocrat/Labour.

Not to poke a hole in your overbroad assumption, but I am not money heavy - in fact it is still moot whether we will have to run to bankruptcy while the option still exists. And yet I find while the republicans don't do much for me they do not do agin me what the democrats do.
I think it rests more on character perception - or lack thereof - and malleability than self interest whether or not enlightened. Has any US administration in the past 100 years KEPT to what it promised?
