Hal Turner was actually like an undercover FBI agent or something working as an agent provocateur. I remember "anonymous" raiding him years ago. Whole thing was weird.

I think it a parody of turn about is fairplay.
i.e. what if right-wing folks were held to their own standards of association.
there are people I associate with that are variously racists, antisemites, republicans, anarchists,democrats, marxists (pro and anti-stalin),zionists, and anti-zionists.
I still associate with all of them but hell they are family.

Wasn't Ayers involved or a participant in bombing incidents. His girl friend was killed when she was assembling a bomb.

pandabear, I'm sure everyone has one individual that is a nutcase that they have known in their lives. Problem for Obama wasn't just Bill Ayers, it was Reverend Wright, ACORN, and a whole slew of other individuals.

I knew a kid that murdered one of his friends years after we both graduated from the same high school. It's when you start hanging out with a bunch of individuals over time that all share similar viewpoints, that one starts to question where you actually stand.

Guilt by association for most of the right wing blowhards is easily accomplished:

Gordon Liddy. A young German-American in NJ who grew up idolizing Hitler and the Nazis and still speaks admiringly of their ability, who later went on to be a bag man for Nixon. He advocated kidnapping, theft and drugging as tools of the state, went to prison for one of those three, and eventually wound up a hero of the right on talk radio.
