Soon enough there won't be much difference between the US and Saudi Arabia.

Well, the only remedy for that is for qualified women to get elected to the legislature and vote for things that matter to them ...

... provided they don't get hung up in a filibuster over any proposed color scheme ...

We're really starting to spiral down the drain now, aren't we?

You tell us - and that's not sarcastic, Germantown's one of the battle areas right now from what I gather.

Is it? I wasn't aware. I am honestly not the most knowledgeable about local politics.

With Carhart moving his abortion clinic there - Maryland's among the few states where what he does is legal.

Interesting. I had no idea. I can't really comment on the specifics, since you probably know more about it than I do. A quick google does show one interesting fact, though...

A local activist group has just acquired some new real estate. Looks like a prime location from which to throw stones:

Nice to see that some parts of the country are trying to progress away from barbarism.

Is abortion the only thing relevant to women's rights? Sure seems like it.

State-ownership of the bodies of half the citizenry is a pretty big effing indication of their status.

And yes. Forced pregnancy and childbirth is a bit of a downer for women...and their children...and society.

The OP's comparison of this anti-choice agenda to Saudi Arabian treatment of women is accurate.

I wonder if the barbarians advocating such archaic policies will feel a bit of remorse when there are pregnant women jumping from buildings and staggering into ER's all across the country with intestines falling out their vaginas through uteruses perforated with a broken coke bottle-

they'd probably just wring their hands about the death of the fetus and scream "murdering whore" at her as she seized and evacuated her bowels in the final hemorrhagic shock prior to death.

There are already 16 year old girls paying people to viciously assault them with bats so they'll miscarry when they cannot tell or get consent from parents for a medical procedure, and hordes of children forced into the world unplanned for and unwanted, in ill-health because of a lack of pre-natal care or addicted to substances due to a lack of access to abortion.

I'd imagine the seething hatred abortion opponents have for women and children is only-strengthened and made all the more hungry for blood and suffering and death by the "success" of their sadistic campaigns.

Gah! Makes me wish I'd become an attorney as I planned-
I'd have them slapped with stalking, harassment, violation of privacy rights and slap on a couple million dollars for IIED (Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress) as the crowning middle finger.

There are no words to express how much respect that man's owed-
it's the extremely rare medical professional who would risk his or her life every single day to help people.

They have other options to not be "state-owned". In no particular order:
10) Be celibate.
9) Use protection.
8. Swallow.
7) Take it on the other side.
6) Use a mechanical device.
5) Find a sterile/snipped partner.
4) Become a workaholic.
3) Travel the globe.
2) Become a humanitarian relief worker in someplace you've never heard of before.
Or....
1) Get 50 cats and isolate from the world.
:P

Yes, it seems a dubious claim.

I am wary of any claim that suggest that someone's biology needs to be changed in order for them to experience their full freedom. It is a tenuous freedom if it is totally dependent on medical technology in order to be claimed. The idea that the state or an individual must pay for freedom is totally opposed to the libertarian sentiment being claimed here.

Feminism has been bewitched by abortion. In the two most populous countries on earth, it is a tool used extensively to oppress women.

*shrug* Pretty danged happy being a woman, myself. Hope the crisis pregnancy center that's opening in Germantown succeeds - since its intention is neither to harass or throw stones, but simply to be there as a real and viable alternative. Or is "choice" not really the ideal here?

Is the problem there lack of access to abortion? Not 'lack of pre-natal care' or drug addiction? Why is the most drastic solution the only one?

And disinforming pregnant women about their weeks of pregnancy. Showing them inaccurate propaganda tapes. Misrepresenting themselves as abortion clinics instead of just disclosing they are anti-abortion propaganda BS spreader centers. And then just forgetting about the women once the "mission is accomplished". Those things don't help anyone.
