If you are the one that gave it up, should you not be the one who deserves credit for alleviating the depression?

I guess both god and me deserve credit. the thing is I did'nt really want to give it up Because I was used to it. I cryed during our service that nite and the lady staff members I was talking to made me give it up because I was crying so emotionally I could'nt really talk they asked if they could pray for me I said yes one of the lady staff members said for me to pray with her I could'nt say no she had power over me so I did it and after I did I felt so good!! :D Ok 8) ! !

In my opinion, the only power she has over you is the power that you yourself allow her to have over you. I am glad that you allowed your self to be happy. :D 8)

In my way of reckoning, depression goes away with high self-esteem. A high self-esteem is brought by doing something you are proud of. In my life, religion cured depression only temporarily, because it gave me a high that lasts only so long. It is an illusion of importance and greatness, but you need to confront the real world.

listen dude since your a kid im going to give you some advice. ive been there bro i know what thats all about. "tent revivals" and if you buy this bottle of miricle water and put it under your pillow you will be healed. don't fall for that trap please. nobody has the power over any of you to heal you of any diseases, thats a red flag right there. i always looked at it like this; (if there is even a god) but thats for another topic. ;). if god didn't want you to be depressed he wouldn't allow it in your life in the first place. Obviously he doesn't care either way because if he did he wouldn't let it happen to you. s**t happens; people get depressed. and get over it and say Oh lord i've been praying for so long and now the lord has finally answerd my prayer. when the depression leaves. i don't believe it one bit.

EDIT: did you know in the bible in the new testement, epilepsy was considerd demon possesion? and people actually thought a demon was in someone who had siezures?
yeah im REALLY going to believe a book that says that.

Blondie...congratulations!! !!I gave up my belief in "organised religion" but still believe in the power of the unknown...I am probably biased because I was raised in Christian Science, although no longer a member(in part because I prayed so hard for relief from my depression and tried to be a good person and felt that I could no longer worship a "being" who refused to take away my suffering...whatever the reason...and seeing the constant suffering of others around me...I just lost any understanding of what "god" was.

But to me...even if your "cure" is temporary or based on self-delussion(I am not saying it is either of this!! !)Enjoy it...any respite from depression should be savored....
