I enjoy the PPR forum in WrongPlanet, for a variety of reasons.

First of all, PPR really stretches my reasoning skills and keeps us happily involved in debate. This seems to show that those who have ASD, and/or are concerned with matters involving ASD people, are really into thought and arguments, which sharpen our thinking. Many forums try to emulate this, but without much success as PPR, where most feel enlightened or that the points are well argued.

Secondly, such intense debates do keep us happy, because we get to know different views from different people.

Thirdly, it shows that ASDs (and their stakeholders, though mostly people with ASDs) that autism is not a disease, and it doesn't stop people from doing their best in debating and thinking deep. Many of us can do self-help. Instead, autism should be seen as something that helps people better understand their abilities, and contribute to the wider global community even more.

Along that particular line, I have learned more here than anywhere else ever.

Indeed, somehow I get more vibrant and vigorous discussions here than elsewhere, from more posters, for some reason or another.

It is a debate when I try to change your mind. It is a discussion when I explain why I think what I think

Posting here keeps me from losing all my Facebook friends.
I can only handle the fluff there by counterbalancing it here.

(Smiles) Try to post PPR content on a blog, no one will care.

Try to post PPR on FB, everyone will not be friends anymore.

But the vigor and rigor here is balanced with respect and humility in almost all participants, to discuss and to learn.

Yes, one can only wonder what would happen if I had to say all the things I did here to someone in person :D

He will either say, 'you're too like blogger XX' or that 'are you saying I am too shallow?'

This crowd does keep it at a higher level than I've seen elsewhere, also we have a more diverse group in terms of age, political orientation, and nationality.

It's fun, and then it's not.

It's fun when the people are respectful and listen to your argument
It's not when you are the only one who holds a viewpoint and are creamed

That's the best part! Bad arguments are bad arguments, and nothing sharpens your logic and rhetoric quicker than beating off a horde of them at the same time. If you think you're getting creamed, perhaps you need to take either your viewpoint or how you present it back to the drawing board for retooling, that's how it's supposed to work anyway.
