I had just read a comment about how there's bias in the media on my facebook wall, and I'm thinking that the only way to stop biased media outlets is to have no media outlets. Anyhow though, is there anyone that's actually unbiased? People observe and process data, reach conclusions, use those conclusions to filter further data, use less data after filtration of observed data, reach yet more conclusions which in iteration are also used to filter data it would seem. Is anyone actually unbiased or do we all have, at least subconscious, biases?

Everyone is biased. Good journalism requires you not to have no bias but to be objective in spite of those biases.

Multiased topic

It is impossible to be free from bias, but at least to admit this is to let readers know your direction. Honesty, reputable publishable sources and checkable evidence is what is needed. Writing opinion, however, is always biased and when you know the writer, then it is a matter of choice to believe that writer, or use that writer's opinions as a reputable source.

There is obviously a trust factor here. Some news reporting is more trustworthy than others, and through experience, you discover this.

Vex's comment is worth noting. 8)

The question is problematic at its core. Someone could be as objective as one humanly can be but whether or not someone is 'biased' isn't something they're allowed to answer for themselves, that judgement can come from anyone and that result could be absolutely anywhere on the map.

Even if someone knew the whole truth about the universe, about economics, about social and foreign policy - they could take a number, their opinion would be worth as much as anyone else's and there would be just as many people calling them biased, perhaps even more if the truth was uncomfortable. Generally, and quite sadly though, we don't want reality, and IMO this is one of many smoke-screens that we errect to keep ourselves as a culture from having to face it down.
