I'm the wrong person to ask, since I believe in progressive taxation as a means to redistribute sufficient wealth to ensure that all individuals are guaranteed access to a minimal standard of the necessities of life. I subscribe to the view that every cut we make to welfare, and every impediment that we erect to access, will be reflected in higher rates of property crime.
I will have to leave it to my colleagues who espouse small government to take up the contrary position.
