Vexcalibur's kindly praise of Islam reminded me of a significant gap in this collection.

For access to the Qur'an, this site - http://quran.com/ - is very nice, almost as good as the Biblos.com site for the Bible. Easy access and simple to read.

Now the atheists who can read can find out what OT, NT and Qur'an REALLY say, and not have to rely on hearsay and anecdote.

so we should stop using anecdotal evidence to base our claims on??

Obeisance to the Arhats!

Obeisance to the Liberated Ones!

Obeisance to the Religious Guides!

Obeisance to the Religious Instructors!

Obeisance to all Saints in the World!

This fivefold obeisance, destroying all sins, is of all benedictions the principal benediction.

Or so we are told by the Jains. There is a Jain center in Chicago.

This is an interesting segment of a very useful site:

Your beautiful sentence....

Alas..

I could not find one as beautiful to reply you, therefore I could only keep silent.

P.S. I am surprised about that http://www.hinduwebsite.com/sacredscrip ... cripts.asp
this website does not work on my computer...it makes me imagine....

There are not many people I truly like and admire.

Charles de Foucauld is one. Besides evertything else, he was a serious linguist.

Check him out.

Here is a link that may give you some idea of him.

Even when anecdotes are true, they constitute very weak inductive evidence in favor of a view point.

As with most developments in human history, the Reformation had mixed positive and negative outcomes. From my point of view, one of the drawbacks was the multiplication and expansion of credal symbols with the concomitant streamlining and decline of the liturgy. Not quite clear whether putting the homily and the teaching function ahead of the Eucharist should be seen as cause or effect.

Anyhow, the liturgy gives us a rich treasury of scripture-based theology and high worship literature grounded in intense spiritual vision.

Here is a good compilation site:

http://www.osb.org/liturgy/

And here is a link leading to some of the earliest extant liturgical texts:

This will serve as a nice introduction:
