Unless one had enough knowledge of even Newtonian physics to be able to calculate it's mass and orbit radius, and analyzed the light reflected off of its surface and noticed we had not only water, oxygen, nitrogen, but also bio-molecules and from the light emitted from the planet that we have sodium lights and other artificial sources of electromagnetic radiation.

We think we are intelligent. We think we are among the species known to us the special ones. We think because we are alive life needs to be like us.
I am prepared to believe we and our planet are special. Even unique. I am prepared to believe we are to the savages of Beta Cygni 24 as flies to bored schoolboys. But unless and until we go there or they come here, we still think our mother serves gourmet meals. Unless we are Carl Sagan, I guess.
