In terms of aesthetics, which otherwise desolate landscape of these three (Mars, the Outback, and Arizona) is more aesthetically pleasant? Mars has about the same surface area as the surface area not covered by water on Earth, and Australia's Outback is similarly larger than Arizona, but it's not really to do with that so much as far as I'm concerned. Which landscapes are more wondrous to you subjectively?

Well for starters the Arizona photo is just a tad better taken than the one of Mt Connor (its not Uluru BTW) and the Mars one I have no Idea of scale. So going from the photos I would say Arizona. If however you were to ask which photo is more awesome MARS wins handsdown, just about anyone can get the other two photos.

Nope I meant lands, not photos. It is pretty awesome to have photos from Mars though. Be nicer if it were made so that almost anyone could take pictures on Mars, but that would probably be decades away just for a single crew of a small vessel to take only a few in person rather than through robots. There are probably better photos to be found of Australia though, it is a beautiful country, but I just found what I could on wikimedia. Arizona does look neat though.

No real wagon train ever went though Monument Valley but every other Hollywood Western used it as backdrop because it so awesome to look at.

So if you're gonnna use Hollywood's favorite spot to represent Arizona you already know its gonna upstage any other desert vista ( like Hugh Jackman is gonna upstage you in front of the ladies).

Second place goes to Mars which holds your attention just because its Mars - the novelty of it.

The Australian vista has a dramatic cliff in the distance but its no monument valley. It holds your eye the least longest.

I didn't realize it was the same section of Arizona used in movies, cool.

It may be sad when that novelty would wear off, say when there are colonists on Mars who get used to it there, although even after it is no longer new it will still be awesome because it will be the second planet that humans will have set foot on then.

I should have picked a better photo of Australia, there's a lot more places more wondrous than that. The composition is rather bland which I think is what does it injustice.

At first glance, my first thought was "Are the FLDS secretly building a new temple in Australia? That's a very thorough effort at hiding it."

Venus shows no signs of ever having water. Mars does.

If Mars could acquire a sufficient oxygen atmosphere humans could make themselves at home on Mars.
