Yes, that's right. It is very dumb of some people to really think that eating dolphin is such a big deal that they have to avoid it at any cost and would rather pay more to avoid it.

But it doesn't mean that companies shouldn't be allowed to advertise their product as "dolphin-free". I mean, let us have a free market and stop being the other corporations' nannies plox?

The WTO and any "free trade agreement" is anything but free trade

The US should leave the UN, WTO, IMF, and World Bank.

Just put the tuna meat in one can, the dolphin meat in another, and launch an airstrike against the WTO.

Sue a company if you find dolphin in your tuna or tuna in a dolphin can.

We pay the most into the U.N. and in return we are abused by the U.N. the most. In addition to which, U.N. diplomatic personal owe hundreds of millions of dollars in parking fines to the City of New York. We should put the U.N. on notice. Pay the fines or leave the U.S.

leave alone the environmental issues of this ruling (and the previous sea-turtle ruling with shrimp); leave alone the public health issues of labels for smoking; leave alone the issues of consumer choice, and the ability to vote with one's dollar.

Why the hell is some unelected, international body able to overturn laws that our elected representatives put into place?

Not in the United States where the U.S. Constitution and the various statutes of law passed by the Fed and the States are the ruling laws.

The U.N. has no sovereign powers whatsoever. And if the U.N. gets pushy the U.S. should just withdraw and the U.N. will collapse of its own weight.

So anyone with ethical objections to food products is "dumb"?
Nice to know.

f**k them. International BS should not get in the way of national sovereignty unless it involves signed treaties. Even then, that's a matter of consent between the nations involved not some international governing body overstepping their boundaries.

The U.N. is NOT a governing body. It has no sovereign status. It is NOT a government. It is mostly a third world kaffee klatch where the worthless third-worlders can get crumbs from the table of their betters.

Hello, People! This is about the WTO, not the UN. Get your bogeymen straight. Unfortunately, when we became signatories to the WTO we gave them the power to overrule laws put in place by our elected representatives.

The WTO has no more power than is given to it by the signitories to GATT. It is not a government.

No nation is compelled to joint although there are advantages to being a member.
