Is is just me or are animals with higher intelligence also more violent and sexually aggressive?
A fine example of this is the dolphin. The males gang rape and beat up females, and have been known to go after humans too. They also kill harbor porpoise babies, and even their own babies.
Is it because while less intelligent animals are driven more by instinct, smarter animals fight and have sex mostly because they want to?

Dont think violence or peacefulness coorelates with either intelligence or the lack thereof.

Praying mantis's and spiders are rather violent- the females eat their mates. But niether of those species are very intelligent compared to even the lowest vertabrates.

The the bonobos which are quite intelligent as non human primate species go, are quite peaceful. Much more so than chimpanzees.

Since you haven't posted anything to back your statement, I'd say that it is just you.

Hippos and Cape Buffalo seem like dumb herbivores to me. But they kill a lot of people. Territorial and aggressive.

we need a ordering for intelligence and one for sexual violence.
make a scatter-plot and we will have our answer.

Acts of violence topic

Sex can be used violently (rape/assault) and also as a bonding behaviour as the bonobos do.

The correlation between sex and violence and intellegence is quite broad, and I have not read anything diefinitive and final on this topic.
