Perpendicular and Horizontal are true, though.

Only in the US. In Canada, left is orange and right is blue.

That chart is pretty much wrong about the right generally opposing inference in the society and economy. Rightwingers have supported patents and rigid "intellectual property rights", which is basically the government granting private businesses monopolies. Rightwingers also support a variety of forms of corporate welfare, such as the military-industrial complex (whose contracts go to Defense companies), privately operated prisons (who are subsidized with prisoners incarcerated by the state, particularly evident in the "Kids for Cash" scandal), and Private-Public Partnerships more generally (which grant rightwingers favorite businesses monopolistic control over public services for an extended period of time). In the social realm, rightwingers have supported restricting the rights of the LGBT community to marry and want to curb the reproductive rights of women.

That's only in the United States. In Europe, red has long been associated with communism, socialism, and other revolutionary movements (red symbolizing blood). Blue symbolizes the privilege of the aristocracy due to their "blue bloodedness."

It's better to be a hawk than a dove.

The chart has flaws, but it's not useless for some elements.

I must have missed the part in the Bible where the Holy Spirit appeared as a hawk.

Better to be a weasel than either a Hawk or a Dove.

Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

What political spectrum does the weasel represent, though?
Weasels are what come to mind when I think of crooked politicians and lawyers.

Weasels are crooked, pan-spectrum politicians and lawyers, of course!
