as would spelling it like Israelis say it iz-ra-el.
or thinking of it as an angel name ending in -el.
or noticing the little red line under Israel.

It is properly spelled Knẋn, at least in my transliteration scheme for Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Other, widespread, ways of transliterating the Middle Egyptian name, the earliest recorded for the region, include Knʕn and Knɗn.

Why is Deutschland called Germany in English speaking countries, when in colonial times, Americans were close enough in calling German immigrants Dutch?
