Jack Abramoff - former GOP felon - backs OWS

I felt that I needed to add that middle part since I get the impression most people here wouldn't know or care who he is unless they saw some good dirt. Then again, that's part of the main thrust of this story.

Mind you with this article - the author has some pretty bad typos (hasn't heard of proofreading apparently) and whoever recorded the interview had to have been an idiot - don't both watching the videos unless you're fine with lipreading or straining to hear his words through static (and hoping nothing else pops up at a normal volume).

Pretty much the guy was a bigtime lobbyist, GOP insider, and went to prison for conspiracy, bribery etc.:

What's you're take on this? Do you think a reformed dirty lobbyist with insider knowledge be a considerable constructive force or do you think his history will be too paralyzing to his efforts?

I don't know, Casino Jack was a sweet movie, though.

As far as OWS, I don't like them anyway. I feel like Jack Abramoff is just doing it, basically, for teh lulz. It's one last way to get back at the people who put him in jail. I think he's just basically doing it for fun, just to say "haha" to everyone.

I don't know. Maybe he actually did learn his lesson when sent to prison - facing loss of family, loss of income, loss of self respect, the anal rape - and has changed his outlook.

Mr. Abramoff was called "Casino Jack" in the first place because he was an out-and-out racketeer who used his political influence to determine which Indian tribes did or did not get licences to operate casinos on their land. If ever an Indian tribe refused to pay him lots of money, he could see to it that that tribe lost its licence to operate a casino (or never got a licence in the first place).

Casino Jack financed religious right's anti-gambling crusades and then went to the Indian tribes convincing them that they needed his lobbying because of opposition from the religious right.

Funny indeed!
But seriously, I think he still practices Judaism.
