that is my story,
to be honest, i'm looking to post 5 posts, in order
to post a link of a song i made for Jesus, but I need 5
posts first, and this is legit,
i did used to be an atheist, and the arguments
against christianity are very compelling to me,
however, at the end of the day i believe Jesus
exists and holds the same rank as God...
and is actually God....
any reply will be for the good i hope...
why do i believe, according to scripture it is because
God has given me belief, also, my life is pointless
without spirituality, and this particular belief,
though, logically doesn't make sense to me,
in regards to why God would create this all
if he knew the results and the suffering that would happen,
and why he doesn't do things differently, but, at the end of the day,
through coincidences that lead me back to Jesus, i guess that is the
biggest thing having me believe, humanly, the biggest thing
would be if God's holy spirit in me is giving me belief.
anyway, if Jesus did die for us, he went through torture,
so we could avoid hell and go to heaven, simply by
believing - again theology says God gifts us with belief though,
so i can't quite say ''just believe'' to you....anyway, if Jesus did
do that...he is great right? did that for us so we could go to heaven
not hell, that alone is a good reaon i like him, besides all the
questions of why is there a hell and what not.
so yes, this turned out to be a legit post after all,
and thank you, have a nice day

Unfortunately, all of the arguments that favor Christianity are based on assumptions, unfounded belief, lack of material evidence, and appeals to emotion (especially fear and guilt).

The best Christians, I think, are those who acknowledge that it's all about faith at the end of the day.
No one can prove or disprove God - you just choose to believe or you choose not to believe.
Or, like me, you sit on the fence until your arse goes numb. :)

I wonder why people bother with stories like this. "I used to be an atheist, but then I Jesus'ed". "I used to drink and take drugs, but then I found God" etc. as if their past validated their current beliefs somehow. is that an attempt at depicting belief as a somewhat superior phase that one arrives at due to experience? it makes no sense.

whatever you did and whatever you used to believe in, point is you are a believer now. we don't need the backstory.

From a logical view to an illogical (and potentially harmful) view.

Big step backwards, buddy.

It seems pretty arrogant to believe the entire world was created for you and those like you, and that someone would "die for you." And saying you used to be an atheist is like saying you used to not collect stamps. I used to be a non-motorcyclist, then I started to ride one... See how silly that sounds?

I think by "atheist" you mean you were a non-practicing Christian.

Have you also gone from being a heliocentrist to a flat earther? From a non-racist to a racist and from a capitalist to a socialist? Just wondering since we seem to be moving backwards here.

Be nice!
The OP has developed a psychiatric delusional disorder for which he/she should seek treatment.

Ok, I'll use the language of the Christian, in hopes to reach you.

Man sinned against god and god cursed man. But he wanted to redeem man, so he sacrificed his son, Jesus, to do so. Because man was cursed by him, and was irredeemable, unless Jesus sacrificed himself for all man, which god decided to do? God cursed man, and then forgave man, by sacrificing his son. Jesus is god, and god is Jesus. So god sacrificed himself to save man. So god is dead?

Anyway...god sacrificed Jesus, his other self, to save man...because...he wanted to forgive man. But...why not just forgive man? Why did he have to sacrifice anything at all? He is god, he should be able to just forgive man if he wants to, but is seems unable to do that. But somehow sending his son to his death can somehow let him forgive man for man's original sin? What sin? Disobedience. So because man disobeyed god, god had to kill off Jesus. But he didn't just hold a grudge against the man responsible for disobeying him; he cursed every single last human to follow, down the generations. He held all men accountable for actions they did not commit, and then, for whatever reason decides he has changed his mind, and mankind should be forgiven, but for some batshit crazy reason he needs to off his kid, who is him, to do it??

None of it makes any sense...none of it.

I’ve read the bible, from cover to cover. I recommend you try it. And while you are reading it, ask yourself if any of it makes any damn sense at all. Don’t just read little parts of it, or let some child touching preacher read it to you on Sunday, but sit down and read the whole book.

I’m fairly convinced the cure to Christianity is to read the Bible…

The OP believes in spite of reason. Typical blind faith.

I myself had been, off and on thoughout my life, an implicit atheist. But now I'm a deist, as it makes the most sense, according to my personal sensibility. I wouldn't necessarily refer to myself as being a Christian deist, but I also wouldn't mind if others do, as my cultural background is Christian. Holiness movement , to be exact. But it just didn't appeal to me, for various reasons. So when I was 14/15 years old I decided to be agnostic/implicit atheist, then later for a time I identified with Abrahamic monotheism. Then I became disillusioned with that, and finally settled upon deism, which I find to be the most balanced view of the concept of divinity. But people are entitled to there own opinions. I don't personally care.

Btw, my dad told me that the best Steakhouse in Alberta forbids that meat be cooked rare. Me thinks rare is the best. *.*
