Thomas Mulcair has won the NDP Leadership on the fourth ballot.

Will this tough fighter be enough to counter the Conservative Reform Alliance Party's (CRAP's) vicious attacks and go on the offensive?

Isn't he quite centrist for an NDP? That might be good for the party's electoral prospects, but rather sad if the NDP gives into that bloody Third Way.

He is. He is a former Liberal minister in Quebec. Of course, he was too far left for them, and Quebec politics are not really left/right, but anyway.

... and he is my MP!

I hope not.

Hopefully he can give Harper a good thrashing.

Hopefully he takes Raes advice and asks spontaneous questions instead of being a party line fiend.

The NDP is planning to get jump on defining Thomas Mulcair before CRAP paints a sticking image in voters' minds.

Tighten up the animation and the voice, and this could be a real Conservative attack ad.

I strongly suspect that the reason the Liberals are waiting so long to elect a new leader is so that the Conservatives don't have too long before an election to poison his (or her) image like they did for Dion and Ignattief. Poor Dion never had a chance to explain his policies before we were all convinced that he was "not a leader.

I think Mulcair has some serious potential against Harper. It really depends on how well he can navigate the shitstorm the CCRAP is going to try to lay on his reputation. This is their m.o.
