UKIP’s “budget buster” on Farage's dictatorship and his dislike of women
As a former chief accountant to the European Commission and an Argentinian-born, Swedish-married, Spanish citizen, Andreasen is on paper the antithesis of a stereotypical UKIP member. Since blowing the whistle on her EU bosses for alleged account fiddling in 2002, Andreasen has become the poster child of the British right-wing, desperate to claw back power from the EU.
Upon joining UKIP in 2007, the so-called “budget buster” rose up the party ranks quickly, first serving as party treasurer and then as a UKIP MEP from 2009. She was even dubbed Nigel Farage’s right hand gal as the pair pledged to take Brussels by storm and bring the Brexit debate centre stage here in the UK.

I don't quite understand the hostility by Andreasen to Farage. I've never heard any comments that suggest that he's a misogynist or a Stalinist. That said, the comments in the article suggest that UKIP are trying to ease her out because of the fact that she rarely spends time in the UK, preferring to live in Spain (she's an Argentinian Spaniard).
Possible case of sour grapes and an ambitious drive by Andreasen to take on senior positions within UKIP? For what it's worth, I don't think her English is clear enough - it's quite heavily accented and I've had some trouble trying to follow her during speeches.

There is no bar to non-British Citizens joining UKIP. There is, however, a ban on members of current or former extremist organisations - like the BNP, NF, EDL and so on - and the UKFP from joining UKIP.
