It's definitely an article that makes you think.

A lot of people could benefit by over hauling their daily routines. There isn't enough physical activity incorporated into what we do.

Obviously America has always been corrupt. How else could we gain the power that we have?

What's so good about competition, what's so good about fighting, what's so good about bombing the innocent? America is a dumb elephant with no sense of pride or humility, no sense of justice, no sense of fair play.

America is a sociopath,

By softening we will relinquish power but regain our dignity.

This article makes no sense by the way. And neither does my post. Why does it have to?

The article is very vague, but there are two aspects of "softness" that seem plausible to me.

(1.) Unhealthy lifestyles. The cause? Corporations.
(2.) Bad education system. The cause? Lack of public funding.

In other words, the US is becoming soft because it is too right-wing. It's funny, because the right wing is often associated with "tough guys" and "smart guys". But in a world run by corporations, there are fewer tough and smart people.

Fretting about the state of America like this is silly. One can only change their own lives and encourage healthy changes in those around them. Concern yourselves with that, and overall we will collectively change as a group as well.

Speaking of "America Going Soft", the fact that this fellow is getting paid for writing drivel like that shows that America is going soft in the head.

Quote:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

This person is why the US is becoming soft. Capitalism has become a religion. The cultists of this religion spend all day telling people about how terrible the welfare state is, while not achieving anything themselves.

You can only achieve greatness when you care about something other than yourself. What was America's proudest moment? Putting a man on the moon? Helping to defeat the Nazis? Both of these have nothing to do with capitalism. In fact, they are both the result of governmental power.

To be fair, America could never defeat the Nazis without weapons provided by Capitalists, and without people making profits off the war.

Nonsense. America couldn't have defeated the Nazis using capitalism, which is why they didn't. During the war, America had a command economy with powerful unions.

The weapons were still supplied by contractors, motivated by profits.

they lost the profits from common goods sale though, fact is much of the allied production happened in factories that had no say in what they produced when.
even then i dont think the factories themselves had much say in the price of what they produced.

I don't really get the point.......seems like trying to simplify issues, also there is more to life then trying to prove how tough you are and it seems whoever wrote that is very upset everyone is not acting like a tough guy.
