Here is my list of United States Presidents that I liked.

1. George Washington.
2. FDR
3. Abraham Lincoln
4. Bill Clinton
5. JFK
6. Thomas Jefferson
7.Andrew Jackson

All time favorite= Abraham Lincoln
My favorite president in my life time= Ronald Reagan

Probably my favourite would be Lester B. Pearson. Under him we got universal healthcare, the Canada Pension Plan, and Employment Insurance (although, admittedly, those were all ideas from Tommy Douglas' NDP). He also gave us our flag and, before becoming Prime Minister, created the UN peacekeepers.

I'm also rather fond of Pierre Elliot Trudeau for his attempts to bring social democracy to Canada. However, I don't put him as my favourite because he was largely unsuccessful (created a huge deficit, and then a lot of what he did was privatised/cut by Brian Mulroney). For me personally the biggest thing he did was probably legalize homosexuality during his time as Justice Minister under Pearson. And he was the one to bring in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Clement Attlee.

1. William the Silent, who led our revolt against the Spanish.
2. Prime Minister Willem Drees, who rebuilt our country in a few years after World War II, had a budget surplus and died at the age of 101.
3. Queen Wilhelmina, who led the resistance during World War II.

If politicians count, Pim Fortuyn certainly deserves a mention. He knew what's starting to become obvious to everyone now ten years ago. After he was murdered for his views, even his former political enemies acknowledged that he was right.

Andrew Jackson was a stone killer.

A Progressive Neo Fascist. Even though Teddy and Woodrow Wilson were political opponents they both subscribe to Progessive neo-fascism.

He inflicted Britain with INGSOC (English Socialism). You can always spot Brits who lived under INGSOC. Look at their teeth. The NHS destroyed dentistry in Britain.

How did the Netherlands go astray. At one time the Dutch were the free-est people in Europe. The land of Christopher Huygens. They were very picture of the enterprising nation of trading folk. Better than the Brits too.

If I had been born a netherlander during a certain period I would have been a proud Dutchman.

God made the Dutch and the Dutch made the Netherlands.

Helen Clark.

She was popular and served three consecutive terms. She was a real socialist firebrand. She was intellectual. She subtly shifted our diplomatic stances so that we are more aligned with China and less aligned with the US. She made MMP work for her, and proved that it is a viable system. She saw through the Iraq War from the beginning and made sure that we didn't get involved. She created Kiwibank and tried to lessen our dependence on Australian financial institutions. She overhauled the education system, which is now one of the best in the world. She introduced the Emissions Trading Scheme, and improved our "clean and green" international image.

No I wouldn't like it one bit. I am not sure I would be ready to start a war that killed 620,000 American and maimed 1.5 million more over the issue however. Being Jewish I am rather prejudiced against slavery. Once we were slaves to Pharo in Egypt....

I am not sure I would be ready to lay down my life to free another people or ask that folks lay down their lives for that cause.

My freedom is mine so I would fight to defend it. Your freedom is yours. You take care of what is yours and I will take care of what is mine.

There's lots of things you won't be able to accomplish if you aren't willing to break a few ideals and do what's necessary.
