If politicians count, Pim Fortuyn certainly deserves a mention. He knew what's starting to become obvious to everyone now ten years ago. After he was murdered for his views, even his former political enemies acknowledged that he was right.
How did the Netherlands go astray. At one time the Dutch were the free-est people in Europe. The land of Christopher Huygens. They were very picture of the enterprising nation of trading folk. Better than the Brits too.
If I had been born a netherlander during a certain period I would have been a proud Dutchman.
God made the Dutch and the Dutch made the Netherlands.
