I just attended a "men's event" at my church (my usual function was preempted) and while the message was good to hear and the speaker's current work he highlighted are worthy causes, every time they have these events it's the same old sports nut element and the 'biker' crowd, very uber-macho in their presentation. I enjoy working with tools, hot rods and all that jazz, just not on a level with the general population, even among others who share interests there it's difficult to engage in more than 2 sentences. I already gather that other churchgoing aspies can relate to not being that enthusiastic about these things but how do you deal with it? Also, I'm fairly confident in my discernment level but when this speaker mentioned needing donations for his mission, and then 2 paragraphs later described having a successful restaurant, a clothing line, motorcycles and a movie about him I had to wonder "why not direct some of those proceeds to your cause?"
