usually the most religious people are the biggest hipocrites, and "sinners" of them all. what do you guys think? i think its because once you say to someone you cant do something subcoincesly they want, and will eventually do whatever it is they were told not to do.

I read about a study where the participants were told not to spill a glass of liquid as they walked across a room. The findings indicated that the people who had been told not to spill it were a much higher percentage more likely to spill it.

thats interesting. i beleive it, so the question now is humans will make better choices concerning morality if they are shown by example and not told, what is right vs. whats wrong.

Well, I always say that if you want to see evoulution in progress but can't hang around for millons of years, you should watch a child develop from zygote to ball of cells to baby and then watch it grow up.
Little children learn by imitation so they are very prone to monkey-see, monkey-do antics.
I think the 'no' phase that children go through also backs up my point.
If it works with small children, maybe it works with elder people.

I would be cautious here to avoid grouping people based entirely on their way of thinking. Religious people (you referred to "sins" say we are talking about Christians and Jews) understand that sins are normal and will happen. I don't think they would necessarily always see it as hypocritical. Obviously there would be variants from domination to domination.

Also, there have been major studies done showing the religious to be happier and much more likely to give to charity then the non-religious (I haven't heard of any studies showing the opposite). Not an insult intended to atheists, or secularists, but something to keep in mind.
