I just looked up the terminology to see if I could find it, the closest classified phobia with medically recognized psychiatric parlance that I could find was ostraconophobia; fear of shellfish.

Apparently the POTUS has had a food taster for a long time now, since before Reagon at least. Seems rather paranoid in my opinion, don't understand why Obama couldn't have somebody else taste his food for him.

Nah, I think the food-taster thing is subterfuge. He's afraid of lobsters and just won't admit it.

That's why I was curious if he is known to eat lobster before. Sunnis also forbid them.

Last time I checked, eating lobsters is not allowed according to the Ja'fari (the predominant Shia school), the Sunni Hanafi madhhab, but allowed according to the other 3 Sunni madhhabs. (Although I admit that even I am having a hard time finding credible sources in this case. If someone has good references, please let me know).

Now Obama Sr. was from Kenya, so he was most likely a Shafi'i Muslim (from ages 0 - 6 until he converted to Anglicanism... and then became an atheist), in which case the consumption of lobster wouldn't be a problem.

But based on Obama's eating habits, he is neither a Shafi'i, Maliki or Hanbali Muslim. He could be a Jew, a Shia Muslim or Hanafi Muslim... or he could be a Christian, because that's what he says he is.

Or perhaps he just doesn't like lobsters .

but yea, it was because he 'food tester' wasn't present. Apparently the POTUS doesn't eat anything not prepared by the secret service with their own ingredients. Makes the photo ops at restaurants seem rather lame now doesn't it?

Lobster is upscale food for the effete and the elite of the northeastern establishments of both parties.

This all could be a ploy to portray the president as a corndog eating, beer swilling heartland type a guy with the common touch.

Soon you're gonna start seeing cars jacked up on cinder blocks on the lawns of the Whitehouse.

I live in suburbia (a not so nice part) in commuting distance of LA, and it's not as sophisticated as people would like to think....and it certainly does not improve one's character over those in rural areas.

Eh, did he really think the GOP was going to poison him? I mean it might have temporarily improved their ratings, but then they'd be left without anyone to run against in 2014. Maybe if they just gave him some salmonella or something, I think "giving Obama the s**ts" would fly as a slogan in some districts.
