Fellow aspie Christians what do you think about celibacy
I mean what do you think about celibacy in Catholic Church.
I'm Catholic, i have some problem with sinful thought If You Knew What i Mean
Perhaps if I had not had such an obsession with sex, I may have been a priest, always followed with great respect for the clergy of all faiths.
As a Catholic I know that I should not criticize my church, but institutional celibacy has always seemed to me a little strange. In my view, the Orthodox Church and Lutherans, have a healthier approach to the matter, there clergy can be married.
Married clergy is also more Biblical... otherwise Paul would have never said that Bishops have to be the husband of one wife, with children who believe.
Nowhere in the Bible does it mention celibacy as a requirement for religious leadership. There's more support, actually, for them to have to be married...
Celibacy in the Catholic church wasn't brought in until about halfway through it's existence. Maybe it's time for the Pope to reverse that mistake?

When I went to college, I took a Sociology 101. My professor, who was a very intelligent lady with a doctorate degree, explained to us that a long, long time ago, before the official establishment of the Catholic Church, priests were allowed to marry and have a family. However, when the priest died, the Catholic Church had to financially support the widow and the family for the service that the priest did in his life, as a kind of a "death severance package".
Understandably, this got quite expensive for the Catholic Church, and they decided that the priest should be celibate, although Biblically speaking, God said in Genesis 2:18 that:
"It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a helper for him."
and Paul says in 1st Corinthians 7:8-9:
Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
I don't know if it is true or not, but that is my understanding of it.
No, by all means, you do need to question certain things that go on in your religion. It will give you a better understanding of it if you think about things after reading Scripture and contemplating behind the meaning of it.
Why did God instruct the Jews to never eat meat and milk together at the same time in Exodus? Probably to prevent food poisoning from salmonella, or some other bacterial infection
Why does it say in Corinthians 6:15-16 "Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.”
That's easy, and all you have to do is look at society today. When two unmarried, uncommitted people sleep with each other, they emotionally and spiritually become "one flesh" because of their intimate connection. If they break away from that, it will be emotionally painful for them to separate.
If two unmarried, uncommitted people sleep around, and have a kid, they have created a "one flesh" between them, and are bound forever by their "one flesh", even if they separate, their union has brought about "one flesh"."
Hope this reply helped
