I think co-ops are an interesting idea, a way to perhaps bring prices down and reduce the power of for-profit insurance companies, and they were in the health care law. Unfortunately, as the bill progressed, provisions were written in that undermined the co-ops, at the behest of the insurance companies. The Obama Administration itself doesn't seem to really like them.
