Hello, WrongPlanet, the lovable, yet annoying Teiraa here to offer my thoughts on gun control. What can I say? The adult convo Obama promised us in the gun debate turned into name-calling, vulgar jokes, and just utter shenanigans you'd expect out of middle schoolers. I'll be taking a few moments to pace, it helps me think. As I come back, I can hear train brakes screeching, I don't live to far from a set of train tracks. But in any case, the gun control debate had a lot of immaturity in it, from people who are older and supposedly wiser than myself. It irritates me almost to the point that I blow hot coffee out of my nose......ooh! I hear a song by Foo Fighters!! ! Okay, I'm back! Now, some things I think we as a country should focus on.
The gun shouldn't be the center of the debate. Yes, it's a good idea to make it hard for criminals to obtain firearms. No, bans shouldn't be the go-to response to massacres. This just creates a hellish free-for-all that diminishes the prospects of handy legislation like the background check bill and mental health bill. You can survive without an Assault Weapons Ban and a magazine limit, focus on why the criminal commits crime.
Don't count on leaders to lead-they're there for the money. Their are researchers out there that can give insight as to how to handle this so-called "epidemic", not talk show personalities that scream the loudest for good publicity and high ratings.
What about fixing economic difficulties? If it wasn't so hard to survive, would anyone commit a crime to survive? I'm guessing, no. They don't have to kill, extort, or steal to get by, it's life on easy street. But we elect rich men to run the country. Men who don't know what it's like to hustle, everyday.
But, I guess the debate is over for now. Everyone's said what they wanted to say. Tempers are cooling down and more moderate voices are being heard. Well, that's all for now folks. Teiraa out!
