That's how it reads. And it is EXTREMELY progressive for it's time, along with the French model. France was considered a major progressive state over in Europe.

That's the reality of the document.

So how is it, that America has become this backward, backbiting, complaining, infantile place? If you read that constitution, it was written to produce a Utopia on earth where everyone is supposed to be happy, free from the misery of states where people are oppressed and treated horrifically. The spirit of America is indeed an altruistic, progressive spirit. Why have we let ourselves go in such an opposite direction by being so negative and just the opposite of what the people who wrote the constitution envisioned. Without the Original Optimism we are nothing but a source of darkness in the world.

Look at the Statue of Liberty our buddies the French gave us. She is a woman named Liberty, she is holding a torch, a light that lights the world's darkness and horrific wrongdoing. Why do we insult the spirit of this country so?

I would like to call out and challenge excessively pessimistic conservative journalists like Sean Hannity for spreading misery, despair and for dragging this country down. I would ask him why can he not honor the optimism this country was founded on?

My biggest fear for this country - the pessimism and negativity is going to will the opposite of what this document holds dear. The more we complain and do nothing, blame others for our own problems and sourness, the worse and worse we will find ourselves. Happiness comes from within and optimism makes a nation bearable.

Well, to be fair, they weren't perfect. Jefferson didn't practice what he preached as he was a slave holder and a racist. He had pretty words but was a hypocrite.

Martin Luther King was an adulter who spent the last night of his with someone who was not his wife.

I'm going on a tangent but wherever you find power, you find corruption.

The voices we need to be listening to are the oppressed, the silently peaceful, the people who aren't just full of pretty words.

I'm on a tangent but people are really not what they seem.

The most influential people of our time are highly emotional intelligent. This doesn't mean they have good character.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this but you get my point. People are flawed. We need to accept it and stop looking to leaders to guide us.

Freedom comes from individuality. The ability to do the right thing in face of the mob.

The abolitionists existed at the time but they couldn't win out over the slave holders although they did try.
